GDT ***Colorado Avalanche vs. LA Kings GDT 4/12/25 >>1:00pm<< on FanDuel***

Game was fun, and then a little tense at the end, and then fun again. Good crowd, still too many empty seats for my liking given how well they've been playing, especially at home.

I don't think anyone would've seriously predicted that at the beginning of this season...
Just think about where they'd be if they didn't suck in January. 5 wins, 8 losses. Would be tied with Vegas right now if they just flipped that to 8 wins and 5 losses. That being said, currently number 6 in the NHL in points and could finish as high as number 5. No way I would have predicted that.

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed 3 goals in any of the 3 periods, nobody guessed 3 in more than 1 period:

Only caught the highlights and glad to see the great and the greasy goals. Bummer for Kuemper on his 2 goals or less streak but he gets the W. 7th roster in Kings History to get to 100 points, still a chance to be the highest by points and wins even if first in the Pacific is out of reach.

Well, that was a unique way to watch the Kings game. Of course, I spaced on the start time, again (this has to be a record for early starts in one season!).

So I'm helping a retired DA that lives up the street remodel his man cave. He wanted me to do the wiring and we were just finishing up...I was trimming it out and putting fixtures up while he was working on his new home entertainment system...and he asked me if I wanted to watch TV while I'm working and I said sure why not, then he asked me if I liked hockey, and I'm like "Yeah who's playing?" He said "Oh, the Kings and Colorado" andI literally said out loud "What the f*ck?" We turned it on three minutes before puck drop!

Now that's lucky.

Strange game. Some observations...

...Burroughs is useless. He needs to ride the bench.

Kuz is amazing. Watching him and Fiala is like watching two magicians with hockey sticks.

Bummer about Darcy's streak, but that almost goalie goal was awesome.

At full strength, the Avs will be hard to beat in a seven games series. That Dallas/Colorado series will be epic.

So will we when we get our players back.

No doubt.

Drew will be a huge difference maker. No idea about Jeannot's health, but man it would be nice if he can make it back in time, too.

But I still think the Avs are the team to beat in the West.
I wouldn't bet on the Avs getting by the Jets. The Jets beat em 3x and their only loss was when they rested Hellebuyck. I think we can beat any team out there... our problem is the Jekyll/Hyde syndrome. We can lose to anyone also.

Yes, consistency has definitely been our Achilles Heel this season, although we have, of late, been able to achieve a great deal of consistency on home ice, the timing of which could not have been better. Over a seven game series, home advantage obviously offers us a key to unlock later rounds and clearly highlights the overriding imperative over the last few games. If we can achieve it, this surely then allows us all greater optimism and the hope of at last venturing deeper into this year's post-season.
