This season is becoming mentally draining. Just when things were starting to look up, this happens. Hope the rest of the roster and league get through this asap!

If this trend continues, throughout all sports, we may see a temporary shut down or bubble implemented in the near future. The NFL is already in full freak-out mode, having revised their COVID protocols, allowing players to return sooner, with all 32 NFL teams placed in intensive COVID status, effective immediately.

With their seasons on the line and billions at stake, I would imagine there are more than a few sports execs literally shiitting their pants right about now.

Omicron infection rate 70 times greater than previous variants. It's going to be everywhere and FAST.

Yep. And being vaccinated doesn't do much in the way of avoiding it apparently, although the outcome should be better. Plus, there's at least some indication that it is far less deadly than delta. Let's hope that is so.

So, what's the minimum amount of time a player has to quarantine after being placed on non-roster protocol?

Every news report about Omicron breaking through to vaccinated people never says if any of those people got a booster. From what I hear boosters give you more protection but the media needs to be more clear about that. And Omicron being less severe only applies to the vaccinated, not the unvaxxed. BTW, Omicron may be coming fast but most of this surge is still Delta. So everyone get vaxxed, get boosted, wear masks, & social distance. Be safe & don’t listen to con artists.

At least the NHL has the good sense to postpone games where teams do not have enough healthy players to compete. NFL Commissioner Roger Slimeball has stated, point blank, no postponed games. They stand to lose too much money.

As a result, the Los Angeles Rams may be forced to forfeit Sunday's game. With 25 players on the COVID list, they currently do not have enough players to man the defensive backfield. What are they gonna do, have a back-up quarterback play free safety? A punter play linebacker?

The NFL is truly The Evil Empire. They couldn't care less about player safety. This is all about cash. Saturday's game features the Cleveland Browns, who have 21 players on the COVID list. But it's being broadcast on the NFL Network as part of their new multi-billion dollar deal with the league. So even if Cleveland has zero quarterbacks on their roster, the game will be played. Madness and greed. Just ask Baker Mayfield.

Did you see that injury to the Chargers player yesterday? He slammed his head into the turf and was shaking when stretchered out. The announcer suggested he may be shaking from the cold because it was a chilly night in LA...

When Parham's head hit the turf, his hands were frozen in front of him. It was obvious he had a brain injury. Ten minutes later on the stretcher, his hands were still frozen in front of his body. And he was shaking.

And that moron Joe Buck blamed it on a 'cold night'. You can't make this stuff up.

The NFL just keeps dipping lower and lower, a fact that was not lost on the New York Post, who blasted Buck for his inane comment:

NFL acknowledged concussions and head injuries.
NHL disavowed and went after their own players in court.

Sinister.

I've seen a literal ton of safety changes in the NHL. I mean I don't much like football to begin with. I said football, not NFL/NHL. Talking about the sport, not the league, mostly.

In MMA, they call that getting "starched". Very scary to see.

Kings just recalled Moverare and Spence. Let’s see who’s going on protocol next.

Remarkably enough, the NFL backtracked on it's official COVID policy and did the right thing and postponed three games. The Rams now play the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday evening.

Of course, this creates a logistical nightmare for the stadium and Seattle fans are less than thrilled. Traffic will be a major issue (as if it wasn't already), and lots of stadium workers will not be available. But the Seahawks fans that bought plane tickets and made hotel reservations are furious. And all this just a few days before Christmas.

But despite all the logistical problems, the league did the right thing. The Rams currently have 29 players on the COVID list. Cancelling the game means the players do not get paid. On either team. So they really had no choice. During the Chargers game last night I told my buddy the best option was postponing until Tuesday. It's nothing short of a miracle the league did just that.

There were no good options, but this was the best.
