Read an article that Dustin Brown might be traded for a left defenseman or a scoring forward. Elliott Friedman said Blake wanted to see what Brown wanted so let's stay tuned

The Perpetually traded Brown... Honestly never understood it. Not that I wouldn't park his ass in the A if the team needed it, but at this point what could make any sense?

also im totally okay with keeping him .. but keeping him down the line up and off our dreadful PP

I'm sure the Kings could get a pretty decent return for him from a team projected to go deep into the playoffs, but likely the future LD doesn't come from such a team. There is talk that NYR may be willing to part with a LD prospect, however, and Brown is from NY so maybe there is a match to be made there.

All the same, really hope he retires as a King and holds a position in the Organization thereafter. Seems like he's more focused on staying with the club / loyalty than chasing a cup with another team.

Define decent return please

Why would any team ask for a marginally performing, increasingly less physical 37-year old winger to be included in a trade package?

This does not seem to be a credible rumor.

which article? Ive seen a couple lately (32 thoughts) where it sounded a lot more like they were going to discuss brown's future with the team, and that if he felt like he wanted to get moved to a contender, the kings would facilitate that if possible, but that most likely Brown would retire a King.

I have to say, trading Brown would come as a complete shock to me.

Too late now.
The time for trading Brown was a while ago........a missed opportunity.

2-3 years ago this would make sense. But now??? Veteran presence is good, but I'm not sure Brown cracks the lineup at all on a contending team.

?I didn?t get the impression [Brown is] going anywhere. I think he?s going to retire a King and his number retired there too,?

?But [Rob] Blake said he?s happy with him as the third-liner on Byfield?s wing to help him out, and we?ll see. His contract is up this summer, right? So I think they just want to have a conversation on where he thinks Brown?s head is. I don?t think they?re rushing to trade him or anything like that.?

It seemed pretty clear to me that the discussion Blake was to have with Brown was about what would happen after this season. Blake is already on the record that 11, 8, 32 and 23 get to decide whether they want a trade. I can't imagine Brown wanting a trade or Blake wanting to trade him for that matter.

I think the only way he gets traded is if he wants to play another year and the Kings make it clear there is no place for him. That's basically Rob helping him out, unlikely to get much in return.

I personally don't think he a) gets traded or b) plays another season.

Maybe they are doing that thing where we say we are going to trade him and he scores a hat trick .. we go on a run and win a cup ?

Whatever you're drinking I'll have the same! :Barney_2:

Probably a 3rd/4th with potential to increase to something more based on incentives, with salary retained. Having a cup winning captain in your locker room is significant, especially on a roster comprised of players with less experience in the Finals.

Seems like an odd idea for the Kings to consider (consider their ties to Brown's wife and likelhood of a future role with the Organization plus positive PR opportunities of him retiring as a King), though, unless Brown really wants such a trade to happen (which doesn't seem likely).

Contract is over this season.
You will not get a good prospect for a 37 year old forward.
Team is fighting to make the post season.
The only way i see this happening is if the Kings are so far down come March, he goes for anything if Dustin wants to leave.

Has anyone even bothered to head down to the Taco Bell to get the official word???

Btw, I don't see it happening.

I did, but I ended up with 2 beefy 5 layer burritos and diahhrea was the official word.

I saw this a few days ago...rumor mill Feb 2.

"Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake will meet with winger Dustin Brown during the all-star break to discuss his future.
The Kings have no desire to move goaltender Jonathan Quick.
They are in the market for a big left-shot defenseman.
Blake declined to comment about Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun."

Brown to the Sabres was so 2010.
