ESPN NHL Power Rankings and Playoff Seedngs

Rog or Reg?

Super Star
Today ESPN released its power rankings, and the Kings are up there pretty high at #7, right behind Colorado at #6.

The Caps are #1, followed by the Jets, Stars, Knights and Canes. Not entirely sure I agree with all that. I have the Avs higher than #6, that's for sure.

The Oilers are currently slotted in at # 10. And after a quick check of the standings, barring a miracle it appears it's a 99.99% chance we're going to play Edmonton in the first round again.

Yuck. I was seriously hoping to play anyone but the Oilers.

On the bright side, I'd love to get some payback, but man I'm dreading playing them in the first round again. How does this keep happening?

Anyway, what does everybody here think? Can we get off the schneid and finally beat these guys? Or are we looking at yet another first round exit against our good friends from the north?

As the eternal optimist, I think we can beat these guys this year. I honestly do. But if Jeannot is injured, it's not going to be easy. Tanner was playing some of his best hockey and that's a huge loss for the team.

Malott looked pretty good last night though, even if the rest of the team did not. He's really going to have to step up and be a physical presence to give us a chance, Because unless we're physical against that team, I think we're looking at yet another early exit.

But if we can keep relentlessly punishing McJesus, I think we finally beat these guys and move on to the next round. And even if we lose in the second round, I'll be very happy with our season if we can smoke Edmonton and end their season early.

Stay tuned.........

With Vegas winning tonight, the Kings are 7 points behind them. So, yes, unless the Kings (or Oilers for that matter) win out (extremely unlikely in both cases), it will be the Kings and Oilers again.

Amazing.

Before the season started, all I cared about was not having to play Edmonton in the first round again. Oh well. All I can say is it's time for some payback.
