So Kings will get Auston Matthews? Sharpen your skates, Ken Holland. There’s work to do.Leafs ‘win’ the draft lottery.

Yesterday he came up just short of saying he wants out now. Don’t think #1 pick will change his thinking if he is that far down the road.I'd think that winning the lottery would be more of a reason for matthews to stay.
Solid point but are you aware the Kings are going to keep an internal cap in the low 90 mil, per Mayors M.?
I want to go after the best possible 2c before we commit to a 3c which , I see SL as.
None. The only answer is to start the rebuild ASAP. Anyone that doesn't realize the Kings will be scraping the bottom of the WC with Vancouver next year is delusional.

The difference between needing a 2nd line center and needing a 2nd AND a 3rd line center is a big one. We need Laughton to stay. If by some miracle we can land both a 2nd and 3rd line center that are both better and more affordable than Laughton then fine, but that's as likely as me playing left wing for the Kings next year.

Looks like the Kings D played the Avs closer than Wilds. Avs seem destined to cup . So the measuring stick may have not been fairly measured after 5 years frustration round 1Have you just woken up from winter-long somber and failed to grasp that the Kings will NOT be rebuilding, no matter what, for at least 2 more seasons?
Did Ken not get the memo the Kings intended to save $ eventually before he signed the most expensive 3rd D pairing in the league?? FFS...this organization really is something.
A 3rd line C can and should be signed as a UFA. There are some options (Laughton, Coyle, Roslovic to name a few), hopefully Ken can do his magic.
A 2nd line C will have to be acquired via trade either way, so that's a separate issue.
Well, if there's an opportunity like this, it should be thoroughly considered. I bet there will be other bidders, though, and considering he's not as "damaged goods" as Elias he won't be cheap. Though it is true that his contract is up in 2 years, so that may deter some teams...and be a bonus for Kings as he's a California guy. For Kings and (unfortunately) some other nearby teams...

I just answered the question.
Maybe it's too soon after the season ended (it's not the position I swear)but that is least sexy list of names I've ever read.No you didn't.
There's clearly some worthwhile UFAs out there and under presumption that the Kings will NOT be rebuilding for at least 2 more season (which they won't) it would be very stupid not to sign at least one solid UFA role player. If nothing else that player will have some trade value if the Kings do indeed rebuild after Ken is gone, therefore a 3 year contract would be perfect for a player like Laughton, Roslovic, Coyle, Mantha, Arvidsson, McMann, Schwartz, Olofsson, Laine, Tolvanen, Borkstrand, Mikheyev, Bunting, Haula, Johansson...depending if it's just #3 C we'd be after or also a winger if Ken trades one in the process of searching for a #2C and and a top 4 LD.
PS: it's funny how the article doesn't forget to remind us that right shot D are a rare breed, but top 4 D-men available (and almost the only ones available worth mentioning at all) in this year's UFA class are all...right shot.
If you were a 3rd line center that had no business getting serious PP2 time, but got that in LA you would be interested in staying as well.Lock up Laughton? Yes. If you saw his exit interview, he seemed sincerely interested in staying.

True, but this team ran with Danault on PP2 for a few years. But surely he's aware of the "risk" that Ken goes and gets a legit #2 C before the start of next season...
Sir, you are playing with fire. You cannot keep quoting your movie avatar as replies, they will send you to internet jail. =) Such a dork. lol.The Kings will get nothing and like it.

Just another hole. A rather large one, but another hole none the less. All this talk about what holes we have to fill makes me forget we need someone to coach this team.
Speculation heardAll this talk about what holes we have to fill makes me forget we need someone to coach this team.
