Frozen Fury

Hmmmm....

I guess Vegas doesn't love us anymore. Well, at least LAK fans in the SLC area will be able to see a game. All 27 of them.

The Kings organization trying to sell this as Frozen Fury is beyond laughable….it’s pathetic.

Joseph Smith and Brigham Young would be shocked to learn that you feel that way.

SLC is a really nice place. No it's not Vegas glitz, but you can drink booze... it's not Provo. Lot's of bars. But a Thursday won't happen for me.

Yes it's nice. That's the problem. Instead of Frozen Fury it should be called Frozen Friendly. We're going from Sin City to (Latter Day) Saints City. The fun in going to games in Vegas is the debauchery. Yes SLC has bars, with beers on tap at 3.2% ABV & liquor in no more than 1.5 oz shots. And they close at 1 AM. After that there's a couple of Diners & Mexican restaurants open 24 hours. There's not even an Indian Casino in the state of Utah. I really don't mean to crap all over it, and if someone wants to go they should go & have fun. But referring to this as "Frozen Fury" is kind of a joke. Why not just call it a regular preseason game?

"The coffee stain theory, paraphrased, states that you can do everything right with your brand experience but if you neglect some details (for instance an airline leaving a coffee stain on the airline tray) it calls into question all other details that might not be paid attention to – like maintenance." - The Internet

The individual who thought this marketing ploy would play well with us, also has a voice in player personnel decisions. Remember this when they go looking for and choose their 2 Top sixers

And the reality is that it will probably have far more Vegas fans than Kings fans in attendance given the shorter drive. FF could never be as good as it was in Vegas...I'd rather see the Kings figure out how to do that game on the beach.

I'm guessing it was successful last time so they figured why not. Just don't understand calling it frozen fury.

This all just goes to show that this organ-eye-zation never really understood what in the hell it had with Frozen Fury, or what Frozen Fury could become.

AEG owns T-Mobile arena for F sakes! There is a built in synergy among all 3, The Avs, Kings and VGK

Frozen Fury should have turned into something like a 3 day weekend pre-season tournament, somehow, someway

It was always something more than just a neutral site pre-season game. That they chose to bury it like that's all it was, instead of evolving into something larger with VGK being the home team is...

I guess they could still do it but in no way would it be the same given Vegas is the home team. The great thing about FF was that Vegas became the Kings home and was a celebration of the team and the fanbase and that would be completely gone now.

Exactly.

When I told the wife about Frozen Fury...she was like "The Kings! The Grand! Vegas! We're going!"

Salt Lake City is a nice clean boring place. Over twice as far from LA, no casinos, no home ice advantage...this just doesn't make much sense. Now the beach is a great idea...lots of cool possibilities...but I can't imagine that many Kings fans looking forward to traveling to a game at Salt Lake.

Frozen Mormon Fury!

Frozen Friendly!

Nice!

I've spent a considerable amount of time in SLC, but it was a family affair all-around. It's a beautiful city, with by far the cleanest downtown area I have ever seen. But the allure of Vegas and the party atmosphere is what drove Frozen Fury.

To me this is mind-boggling.

In fact, if I had to list all the cities in the region I'd like to have a Frozen Fury type event, Salt Lake might very well be last on my list...it's certainly not high on my Fun Places list, that's for sure.

What's next, Frozen Fresno?

I guess that's true for some. I didn't go to Frozen Fury in my 20s... I've gone in my 40s/50s. I went to have a good time ushering in the new season while screaming my head off and spilling my beer. I gambled till 1am, went to cirque shows, but also took the time during the day to head up to the ski resort for lunch. I would go and listen to live music, and have a steak dinner. I didn't go for debauchery and hookers. I went with my honey and friends who are also huge Kings fans. Salt Lake would be different for sure, but many folks can still have a great time.

One thing though was the fact in 4.5 hours we could be in Vegas. We could charter a bus or pack the car with our buddies. Heck once we drove up in the afternoon and came back home after the game. SLC is 700 miles away! That's really too far to drive up one day and back the next. It a plane flight or two night stay and that's very different than what we had when we would pack the aisles with Kings fans.

I'm betting there will be no DVDA either
