Full NHL Protection/Exposure List

Not pleased that a protected spot is wasted on a 37-year old. Chances are slim and none that DB will ever lead the team in goal scoring again.

But I understand the loyalty and it does make Kings management look better in a PR sense.

Lots of really good Hurricanes for them to pick from. And, when did Sheldon Rempal become part of the Hurricanes organization?
Lots of GREAT players to choose from on the Bruins as well.

WOW!

The Habs Exposed Price!

He opt-ed out of his NMC so it was mutual. The thinking is that Seattle won't want the cap hit. It's possible the teams will work something out.

Wow, Palat is unprotected.

Putting Cernak on their protected list sure says a lot about their confidence in him and his value to the team.

Grrrr... That ill-considered Bishop trade makes Deano look worse every passing year.

Nashville protected 5 defensemen!
And I think only 2 other teams went the 4 defensemen route.

The thinking this time seems more towards protect the most players possible.*

*I say this without researching how many teams protected 4 defensemen during the Vegas entry draft.

Yes, but every GM makes these kinds of mistakes. Many get to redeem themselves if they don't get fired. But since DL got canned....

Believe me Poile and Wilson (to name two) have made just as many mistakes and they don't even have any Cups. Jeez...even that dolt Milbury got 11 years as GM on the island...equivalent to DL in years.

Anyone gonna mention the "Great 8,"Ovi himself is available! I mean, ten million is a stiff price, but would be one hell of a name to put butts in the seats for Seattle.
Also I noticed mr baldy Getzlaf and Perry is up on the chopping block too hahaha

I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. Ovi was one of the first big names I noticed.

I know his 13-year, $124 million contract officially ends on July 28...and he'll be 36-years-old in September...but what he'll cost now is beyond me. But I don't think he's in the $10,000,000.00 a year range anymore.

As for Getz, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Kings uniform. Always liked the guy.

As for Perry, the only uniform I want to see him in is this, so they can shoot him out into space, never to return:

Except he's UFA and would probably re-sign with the Caps regardless...

And the Pens protected Jeff Carter. He played well for them.

Spitballing......

What if a team wants to upgrade their depth in goal and thinks Quick as a solid #2 or even 1b at a lower cap hit can fill that need, but they don't have (or are not willing to part with) what LAK would want in return? Here's a chance to make a deal with Seattle to claim Quick and retain a little salary in exchange what what they can offer in trade that Seattle might be interested in.

Realistically compare what Seattle might get in return for a salary retained Quick to one of the teams coming up just a tad short on goaltending depth compared to what they will likely get in Clague or Grundy.

Yeah I know, its a little out there, but if not with Quick, I'll bet Seattle parlays at least a couple of the available goalies out there.

I am not singling out Lombardi as a unique case by any means. All GMs have their wins and losses. But the Bishop trade came at the bottom of a downward spiral that put a punctuation mark on Dean's futility and desperation. The current sad state of the Kings defense is the direct result of his bankrupting the future. Just imagine Cernak on our 2nd pair with Bjornfot for the next 10 years...

So apparently Price is having hip surgery and could be out a portion of next season...to that's possibly the main reason he was left unprotected. Gotta believe Montreal already let Seattle know about that.

Im not sure what youre trying to pull off here. You want to retain salary on quick, have Seattle select him, and then we also trade them a piece or they trade us something for the retention? I think there are simply too many goalies available all in sort of that same position for seattle to give up anything to take one. And honestly, having him stay to finish out his contract while Peterson grows into the role this season is pretty much what you would want.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Eric Haula got selected again? I think he's the only original VGK up for grabs. (My pick from Nashville would be Gudbranson, though)
