Good luck in Boston Troy!

Another center in 29 year old Tynan who has 19 games and 1 assist in the NHL, though he has pretty good AHL stats.

And 28 year old goalie Sparks with 38 NHL games to his credit, and like above pretty good AHL stats.

Haven't read about these gents yet, but vets to help the kids on the Reign develop is what I see.

I don't know anything about Tynan but Sparks is a fine AHL goalie and #3 for the Kings. A perfectly adequate replacement for Grosenick.

Good luck to Grosenick. He was truly a feel good story last year.

Good luck Goose. You were one of the highlights of the year (for one game at least)

this makes has me assuming that we're either going to see several centers converted to wing and/or traded. Pulling in an AHL lifer looks like they're planning for the inevitable.

The next question is: Before or after the season starts?

Hoven has Turcotte on wing with Byfield to start season in Ontario and Tynan centering second line for the Reign. He also is speculating that the Kings might start JAD as the 3rd line center in Ontario while the Kings figure out the bottom 6. His comment is somewhat speculation, somewhat to just stir the conversation (or argument) pot. I will say that those first 3 lines could be pretty stellar as they start a second season playing together...I will be at the Reign opening night game.

Knowing how much twitter loves having stuff to argue about, here's a projected lineup for Ontario Reign...

Turc - QB - Kaliyev
Kupari – TJ - Fagemo
Frk - JAD - Madden
Johnson - Sutter – Doty
Thomas (IR)

Wolanin – Clague
Moverare – Strand
Phillips - Durzi
Spence

Yeah i saw that after i made the comment. I think at this point, everybody is hoping QB forces himself onto the Kings to start the season, but the reality is likely what you posted. That's not a bad thing though as it will be nice to see how the Kings adjust to having guys better slotted to their roles. Even without the guys in Ontario, we've got a new top 6 winger and a new 2nd line center. That should allow us to field a pretty solid 3rd line. If im not mistaken the Kings also signed a russian winger as well. There's still a lot of guys fighting for spots. Hopefully the Kings can realize some solid growth from all the youngsters, while still taking a step forward in terms of winning

I think QB comes up pretty quickly. Well, at least I hope he does.

where does he play though? 4th line? What do they do with Vilardi if QB does in fact impress out of camp? Good problems to have, but it feels like the only option would be to move Vilardi to wing.

I think that Gabe absolutely moves to wing at some point and Byfield slots at 3C. From post FA discussion with Blake, courtesy of the Mayor's site

On if Vilardi is still a center or could he move to right wing:

We look at it, especially when we’ve drafted so many centermen over the years; but any team I’ve been involved with, I’ve seen centermen go the wings, I rarely see a winger go to the center. So there is no reason any of these centermen can’t go to the wing and find the right position. That’s kind of our philosophy here for the last few years. We’re going to put the best players in the lineup, we’ll filter them in in the positions that’s most suitable for them.

I would like to see QB have a complete year in the minors. He is still so young and hasn?t quite developed. The Kings will be in the same place with or without him and not burning a year is key.

IMO, QB should be under center. Just saying.

If I'm interpreting Capfriendly correctly, TJ Tynan will earn $400k and Garret Sparks will earn $225k while playing in the AHL. The youngsters earn between $70k and $80k (base). So the Kings obviously willing to pay some decent coin to get good AHL veterans in there.
