Jeannot Suspended for Three

Thought it would be 2. Was it 3 for intent to injure?
In the video the explanation was that Jeannot had time and space to avoid the hit but followed through anyway, resulting in direct contact with the head.

I thought the hit on Cernak was worse in execution and that was only 2 games. But Boeser looked very hurt. Guessing that had impact as he could be out for a while.

Whatever. I’ll take 3 games without Jeannot, for a player like Boeser missing time. I don’t recall there being any supplemental discipline, or even penalties called on the kneeing occurrences that took out Drew and nearly Durzi from 3-4 seasons ago. Or even a penalty when Danault got caught straight in the face by Hyman a playoff or two prior. Or the head contact Turcotte got earlier this season, etc etc. point is, a lot of these calls seem rather arbitrary in nature to me.

I can't say that I disagree with the suspension.

I saw the hit live and several replays. IMHO the hit started at the chest and then slid up into his jaw. 5 min major yes, I was not a fan of the match penalty and 3 games ive seen way worse get less. Too bad he wasnt a superstar wouldnt even been a major :fpalm:

I get the suspension, but I don't think there was intent as related to the head. However it looked pretty bad and I'm not remotely surprised by the three games. Ice hockey is a fast violent sport and unfortunately this stuff happens. I just hope Boeser is okay.

It really wasn't that bad of a hit, but it was late (should have been avoided) and Brock was injured so the suspension seems warranted. If the NHL's intent is to protect players, 3 games is actually a bit light.

The hit on Turcotte was worse, imo, and doesn't even draw a penalty. Say what you will, but when I much bigger player hits up and flings the player head first into the boards - it should be a penalty as it very probable that play ends in a concussion. We need to get some consistency from the NHL and they need to determine what is most important - player safety or star power/revenue.
