LGK : He sucks!!! Byfield is better.
Practically every other hockey site : Stutzle would have been the consensus #1 overall in a 2020 redraft.
The Kings actually drafted very well that year in spite of the Stutzle miss. Faber, Byfield, and Laffy all look to be NHL'ers for the next decade. Grans is finally getting NHL time in Philly. Jamsen and Chromiak could both potentially play NHL games.

2019 looks like a good draft for the Kings as well will 6 players already have gotten NHL time, and I think 2023 and 2024 will shake out well. It's really impressive what Blake is able to do when he keeps draft picks (instead of constantly trading them away).
Really hope we see a shift with the Kings holding on to their picks, going forward, and focusing on building the team around (home grown) youth.
If we could get Blake/Luc to begin utilizing the Jr Kings to identify and draft local talent we'd really be onto something.
Agreed, skipping on Wolf still baffles me. It actually makes me really mad when I think about it. I get missing on drafting a player like Jason Robertson as he was off the board by the time our 2nd round pick came up, and usually our 11th overall on him didn't make sense at the time - but how do we skip on a player like Wolf considering we had 9 picks that draft and the Kings staff knew was extremely good. It's just sad.I am still annoyed that we passed on Dustin Wolf during his draft year. It would have been the perfect story to pick the local kid who DOMINATED with the Jr Kings. We could have taken a flyer on him sooner than the Flames did. I know smaller goalies get overlooked a lot but that is why Wolf fell to the end of the draft.
Speaking of 2019, I wonder when Kaliyev gets back. I'm curious if Hiller's coaching could rehab his development like so many of the other prospects.

LOL I like how some Kings fans go to is the "+/-" stats to try and make something like this seem even "okay" to as why we actually didn't draft the way better player that a lot of us kept wanting. But lets play that card. Byfield is a -2 10pts in 24 games. Stutzle is a +3 28pts in 22 games... Hmmmm. Yeahhhh. I think I would have taken Stutzle. And those wearing the rose tinted glasses and prefer blaming Fiala for everything yet Byfield is more of a joke this year instead of being better. He's also a career +/- -64 player despite all his points which would never fly on the Kings.
I'm good with our pick.
Hope springs eternal..Next year might always be the year for Byfield.
