Sounds like the Sharks have just about had it with Kane. From today's San Jose Mercury News:

"If Kane does return to the team, a question also looms whether he would be welcomed back inside the locker room. Friction built up between Kane and his teammates throughout last season, to the point where some Sharks players expressed to management that they no longer wanted the forward on the team. Their frustration stemmed from Kane?s perceived overall lax attitude toward team rules, including being late for practices and games and the players? dress code."

Wow, this is his sixth suspension. How many more chances is this dude going to get!?!

He gets more time than most for far more serious crimes.

Kane's statement:

“I would like to apologize to my teammates, the San Jose Sharks organization, and all Sharks fans for violating the NHL COVID protocols. I made a mistake, one I sincerely regret and take responsibility for. During my suspension, I will continue to participate in counseling to help me make better decisions in the future. When my suspension is over, I plan to return to the ice with great effort, determination, and love for the game of hockey.”

I always crack up at his well-crafted statements, where he always seems so level headed. Of course, he didn't write them. Here though I imagine he does regret his decision, which ended up costing him almost $1.8 million.

He could go to jail......

According to the DOJ misrepresenting the official seal of a U.S. agency, like the CDC logo on vaccine cards, could be a violation of federal law.
Violators could face up to five years in prison or a $5,000 fine.

I think he would prefer an NHL suspension vs possible jail time.
Doubtful that he would receive jail time, but it is possible.

P.S. I'm only sorry because I got caught.?

SAN JOSE – After being caught for forging his proof of COVID-19 vaccination, San Jose Sharks left winger Evander Kane says he would have to intentionally lose nearly a dozen games to make up for the $1.7 million for a 21 game suspension.

“I have really learned my lesson about taking COVID-19 protocols seriously,” said Kane in a press conference at a nearby casino. “This is a debt I could slowly repay with some missed open net shots and a few boarding penalties in a close game.”

I love the "I would like to apologize...." If you'd like to do it, then do it. Just say, "I apologize to...." I "would like" to win the lottery. I "would like" to quit my job and spend the rest of my days on a golf course on Maui. I am currently unable to do those things, but I would like to do them.

I get what you're saying. While it's a widely accepted expression, it does serve to distance the individual from the act of apologizing. Reality is, he likely doesn't like apologizing, so the "I'd like to" is in itself, a lie. Would he "like to apologize" for that, too?

Seriously though, Kane has been such a stain on the NHL since his early years...and now reports have him alienating yet another team. I think we all saw this coming. Hopefully he goes the way of Raffi Torres before the end of the season.

The Sharks are fine at 2-0 without Kane. They should be better when he returns. The Sharks are fun to watch at this point

This was not only stupid but dangerous. They have these protocols for a reason & for him to put his teammates at risk, I wouldn’t want him back if I were them. And depending on what kind of fake proof he gave, that could be a crime.
