Kings winger Kevin Fiala sustained an apparent and likely serious leg injury at the Milano Cortina Olympic Games.

Fiala, a 29-year-old Swiss national, was taken from the ice on a stretcher after a hit by Canada’s Tom Wilson late in a match the Canadians led comfortably.

Canada defeated Switzerland 5-1, which was the score when Fiala and Wilson, a winger for the Washington Capitals, collided and Fiala’s left leg got tangled in the boards with 2:50 left.

The Kings, who entered the Olympic break outside the playoff bubble, could ill afford to lose their leading power-play producer.

Struggling to score at all strengths this season, they made a savvy trade for the New York Rangers’ Artemi Panarin just before the pause. But that could be rendered a lateral move now, given what appeared to be a severe injury to Fiala.

Fiala also sustained a nasty break of his left femur early in his career, during the Nashville Predators’ Cinderella run to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

The Kings return from the Olympic break when they host Vegas on Feb. 25.
