The Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues completed a trade on Tuesday morning. St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced that the organization has acquired forward Akil Thomas from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Nikita Alexandrov.
Thomas will immediately join the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL. Thomas, 25, has 13 points in 19 AHL games this season and 106 in 176 career AHL games, plus seven points in 32 NHL appearances.
Alexandrov, 25, a 2019 second-round pick, has 143 points in 188 AHL games and nine points in 51 NHL games with St. Louis. He has 14 Pts in 18 GP with Springfield this season.

The league has been aware that the Blues are actively looking to make trades. That said, this deal was not necessarily what anyone expected. This is not a trade that moves goaltender Jordan Binnington or defenseman Justin Faulk. This is a trade for two AHL players who likely won’t have much of an NHL impact this season.
