Kings claim Wolanin

More likely Clague goes back and Wolanin is their 7D. Knows the system and they know him.

This is huge! You don't find a player like this every day!

Wolanin is back! Was he ever really gone though?

Wolanin the hot potato! :hockey2:

Thought he had more potential than Clague, and that was even before watching the brutal turnovers.

Why is Blake wasting time and money on players he had and let go. If he wasn't good enough to keep the first time around, what makes him think he will the second time. Further the Sabres weren't playing him because he could crack there line up, if he makes the Kings then that says something about the kings talent level.

Rather see him over Roy at this point

Perhaps they plan to use him in the AHL to fill the void left by moving Durzi up?

This is probably the case, or as someone else said they need to get Klague minutes he's not getting with Durzi up. Kings are currently carrying 47 contracts with Wol back in the fold. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it makes sense to keep Wol up, pass Klague down (he already cleared right? so hes free to move up and down?) and then carry on. If they try to assign Wol to the AHL he's still gotta clear I think.

i dont have the quote handy, but I saw it mentioned that Wolanin would not have to clear waivers to go down. something to the effect of having reclaimed him within a 30 day window. I'll try to dig that up. Ultimately, i think they jsut want another guy in Ontario, and perhap sthey still feel he's worth taking a shot at long term. There's not really any negative effects from bringing him back.

EDIT
It was mentioned here:

***13.22 When a Club claims a Player on Regular or Unconditional Waivers, and, subsequently,
in the same season it requests Waivers on the same Player and the original owning Club is the
successful and only Club making a Waiver claim, then the original owning Club shall be entitled
to Loan such Player to a club in another league within thirty days without further Waivers being
asked; provided that such Player has not participated in ten or more NHL Games (cumulative)
and remained on an NHL roster more than thirty days (cumulative) following such successful
claim.

It's possible i misunderstood, or OP misunderstood, but the implication was that they could assign him to teh AHL without having to clear.

With Doughty back from LTIR, if the Kings decide to keep Durzi, then Clague goes on waivers. Another forward, most likely Kupari, will need to be sent to Ontario make room for Athanasiou as well.

You're right, that does make picking up Wolanin an interesting move but it really seems like the Kings want him in the system and it gives the Reign some insurance.

Did anyone have a chance to see Wednesday's game? Curious about Bobby Russell, currently on loan to the Reign, as he appears to have had a pretty good game.

And today, Clague goes on waivers.

Kid had plenty of chances to secure a spot. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

Also seems one forward from Ontario will get a call up too until Lemieux an Athanasiou return.

I don't see Clague with a future here really. They need an impact left shot D-man to add to Anderson and Bjornfot going forward. They have Doughty, Roy and Durzi on the right, with Clarke coming in next year and Walker returning to boot.

I would have preferred waiving Maatta, but perhaps they think Clague will clear. In any event, we are losing a healthy scratch for the most part.
