Kings Prospects in the World Jr's

No NHL this weekend, we've got the World Jr's and a few Kings prospects will be playing.

Kings 2021 draft pick Samuel Helenius with 2 goals so far this afternoon against Germany. The second came off of a goal saving play on the other end by Helenius himself. The Kings scouting staff must be loving this late second rounder.

Follow up thoughts: He's a giant at 6'6". Helenius is who the Kings traded up to get, with picks #71 and #108 going to Carolina in exchange for #59 . Blake and Co. talked up their targeted trades, so this has got to feel good so far.

Helenius and Chromiak with 2G each. Faber, Grans and Simontaival all with an assist. Kirasonov the only Kings prospect to not get on the scoreboard today. But that's not really his thing anyway.

EDIT: Take assist away from Simontaival and add one for Grans.

I know it was Germany but I thought Simontaival looked as dangerous as last year. The kid has a nose for causing things to happen. Good on Chromiak for scoring that goal.

Helenius and Chromiak with 2G each. Faber, Grans and Simontaival all with an assist. Kirasonov the only Kings prospect to not get on the scoreboard today. But that's not really his thing anyway.

EDIT: Take assist away from Simontaival and add one for Grans.

I believe Kirasonov was a +1 in a 6-3 loss with 24:00 on the ice, that's as impressive as any other statistics. That's his game.

USA forfeit the game due to covid. They also have a game tomorrow.

As for the Kings' prospects...the Helenius kid is huge and his line has been great. Chromiak is small but not afraid to get in there and shoot.

The Kings for the last few years have had many players excel in this tournament. A different game in the NHL, as we are seeing.

What a bummer.

Feel so bad for the kids but it is the correct decision.

At least Chromiak and Helenius got a moment or two to shine.

I look forward to this tourney all year. The IIHF is at fault with their terrible organization. They're going to try and reschedule. Hope so...for the kids who dream of playing in this tourney.
