In a summer where there’s been plenty of speculation that 2025-26 could be the end of the NHL road for Anze Kopitar, Thursday saw the first public comments by LA’s captain on said matter.
Speaking to CBS News, the 38-year-old center mentioned this could be his final season of lacing up his skates. After already owning nearly every major franchise record — including games played (1454) and assists (838) — Kopitar is set to pass Marcel Dionne’s 1,307 points mark this coming season, making him LA’s all-time scoring leader. In his 20th campaign, Kopitar is expected to put his final stamp on what will end up being a Hall of Fame career, highlighted by (at least) two Stanley Cups and multiple league awards.
Here’s the teaser video that was posted by CBS News:
"This could be my last season in the NHL, yes."
