The following reports are from games played through end of day Sunday, January 21st.

ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)

Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects this season, each tracker will feature a select number of them on a rotating basis – largely culled from key performances for the prior week.

It was a tumultuous week for the Reign, where they dropped three of four games. They would start the week off on a high note, defeating the Abbotsford Canucks 4-3 before losing a tightly contested rematch the following day by a score of 2-1. Returning from British Colombia, the Reign dropped a pair of home games over the weekend; first 4-2 to the Coachella Valley Firebirds on Saturday night, then 6-2 to the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday afternoon.

Andre Lee, LW/C (188th overall in 2019)

2023-2024 Stats: 4 goals, 3 assists, even plus/minus, 23 PIM in 27 games played

Lee would have an undeserved end to a great week, leaving the ice supported by teammates and staff after going down awkwardly in the final minutes of Sunday’s game. Prior to that, he was named First Star of the Game in Ontario’s win over Abbotsford, scoring twice — first, via a tipped Kim Nousiainen shot, then later Lee used his trademark speed to get in behind the defense for a shorthanded goal.

Tyler Madden, center (Acquired via trade with VAN)

2023-2024 Stats: 8 goals, 5 assists, minus-7, 8 PIM in 39 games played

Madden scored twice this week. He put Ontario up 2-0 against Abbotsford off a one-timer from the slot, and again put his team up 2-0 vs. Coachella Valley with a laser from the right circle. He was also instrumental in Alex Turcotte’s goal against Bakersfield, earning an assist on the play after stripping a Condor defender of the puck.

Alex Turcotte, center (5th overall in 2019)

2023-2024 Stats: 7 goals, 15 assists, plus-7, 12 PIM in 27 games played

Turcotte returned from his injury a difference maker, scoring the game winning-goal against Abbotsford off a powerplay tip. He would also even the game against Bakersfield 2-2 with a tap-in after crashing the net.

FWIW — Turcotte has looked good in the four games since he's returned.

Not much of a surprise, though. He was a key driver for Ontario earlier in the season. Had earned praise from Sturm and several scouts (working for the opposition) who I had spoken with in Nov/Dec.

In case you didn't know, #GoKingsGo prospect Matthew Mania's nickname is Marv.

Whatever name you give him, you can call this a snipe https://t.co/o0MWlrdbru

2023-2024 Stats
Baie-Comeau Drakkar: 0 goals, 2 assists, plus-10, 6 PIM in 8 games played
Shawinigan Cataractes: 2 goals, 13 assists, plus-6, 26 PIM in 31 games played

Where most clubs would struggle when having to play three games in three days, the QMJHLs top team pummeled their opposition by a combined score of 22-3. Showing he was worthy of his recent promotion to Drakkar’s top defensive pairing, Booth picked up a primary and secondary assist in the week’s final game, his first points since joining Baie-Comeau at the Trade Deadline.

Koehn Ziemmer, Prince George Cougars, Right Wing (78th overall in 2023)

2023-2024 Stats: 11 goals, 20 assists, plus-7, 11 PIM in 20 games played

Ziemmer remains sidelined with a lower-body injury.

Jakub Dvorak, Swift Current Broncos, LH Defenseman (54th overall in 2023)

Both games were losses for Swift Current. He did not skate in the Broncos first game of the week for undisclosed reasons.

USHL

Hampton Slukynsky, Fargo Force, Goalie (118th overall in 2023)

2023-2024 Stats: 1.67 GAA, .922 SV%, 3 SO, and 15 wins in 18 games played

The Force played a grueling three games in a row, escaping with one win sandwiched between a pair of losses. Slukynsky, the USHLs top netminder, played the latter two games, stopping 26-of-28 shots in a 5-2 win and then 27-of-30 in a 3-2 loss. Remarkably, it was Slukynsky’s first of the season.

BCHL

Jack Sparkes, Chilliwack Chiefs, RH Defenseman (180th overall in 2022)

2022-2023 Stats
BCHL-Chilliwack: 1 goal, 4 assists, and 52 penalty minutes in 12 games played

Ryan Conmy, Univ. of New Hampshire, Right Wing (182nd overall in 2023)

Conmy and the Wildcats readily handled UConn 5-0 in the first game of a back-to-back but were held at bay the next game, losing 2-1. Being the last player to touch the puck, Conmy would be credited with a goal after a UConn defender inadvertently put it into his own net, which would also stand as the game-winner. Playing on the top line in both games, Conmy would have nine SOG and be a plus-2.

Ryan Conmy scores to put the 'Cats on the board first!

EUROPEAN LEAGUES

Aatu Jämsen, Finland, Right Wing (190th overall in 2020)

2023-2024 Stats
Ligga: 11 goals, 7 assists, plus-8, 6 PIM in 21 games played
Champions HL: 2 goals, 5 assists, plus-2, 2 PIM in 5 games played

“Kid Jämsen” impressed thoroughly in a 4-2 win over Tappara, scoring the game-winning goal in addition to a Michigan, a move he is no stranger to. In the Pelicans earlier 7-2 victory over TPS, Jämsen’s primary assist in that game would fall short of former Kings prospect Aiden Dudas’ two assists in a quasi-battle of King on King crime.
