$500.00
Looks like they are trying another method of selling tickets for the game.
$75 bucks a month I the 300 level or $175 a month in the lower bowl.

https://www.nhl.com/kings/tickets/reserve

If someone is interested in going to somewhere between 1/3 to 2/3 of the games then maybe it comes out as less than a full season.

Interesting... so what are the drawbacks to this?

- Surely no playoff priority (ha, playoffs. They don't need to worry about that)
- No Meet the Kings I'd imagine? That wouldn't be fair to STHers.
- Different seats every game?
- Can't sell them. Which makes sense, because the point of this membership is for people who actually want to go.

One potential drawback that I'm trying to get some clarity from the Kings on is:

if you wait until the last minute to reserve a seat, will there ever be a situation that the game will be completely booked and you are unable to attend.

Disneyland has a similar membership program with their Magic Key Passes and despite one level of their Magic Key passes having "No Blackout Dates" people are regularly blocked out due to a lack of park reservations.

I just want to make sure that I'm not signing up for the LA Kings version of a Magic Key.

I havent been to a game all season that didnt have plenty of empty seats. Doubt this will be a problem. Plus with being able to reserve for 2 games at a time seems like it could work.

Just got a response from the Kings:

Ryan,

I understand what you’re saying. Technically the reserve subscription pulls from open inventory. If all inventory is sold and we sell out, then yes you would not have access to tickets for that game. There won’t be a scenario where we “block out” our reserve members, but if we sell out then we sell out.

This is the LA Kings version of a Magic Key.

You risk not being able to attend games if they sell out of their inventory. This may not be an huge issue now as the Kings are not a great team, but if they improve or a popular opponent comes to town, you risk not being able to attend if you don't use one or both of your reservation holds to book that game in advance.

I wonder how many of these Reserve Memberships they will sell and if the reservations will become competitive like the Magic Key reservations.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach on this. I got fooled with the Magic Key, not falling for another one of these schemes again.

so... you pay money in order to be able to reserve some tickets ahead of time? But you dont get any discount on ticket pricing? Why would anybody do this right now?

If you go to enough games you do get a significant discount vs buying individual tickets from the Kings via AXS or a Season ticket package.

Right now the cheapest single game ticket the Kings allow on AXS is $25.00 and the cheapest per-game season ticket is $41.00.

With the reserve ticket if you were to go to all 41 games the per-game price comes down to $12.80 (525/41) per game. The pricing gets even better for the highest tier of the Reserve Membership as it allows you to sit in the Premier section of Staples center at very significant discount.

Other than the tickets being non-transferrable, I think the reservation system is going to make this membership program too good to be true.

I'll wait until they have to resort to PAYING people to go! mhihi: rolleyes: ;)

I guess you didn't do the LA Kings Mercury Insurance quote promotion.

The two ticket you get from the free quote, those tickets are able to be re-sold via AXS.

So far the Kings have paid me around $40 to go to their games. LOL.

trust me....there are PLENTY of open seats. I have been to every home game, and have never had to sit directly next to another person (other than the person I came with). This is in both the 300s and 200s. (I have a full season in 300s and partial in 200s)

Well it's certainly easy to understand why people are staying away.

I've decided to opt out on Kings games this season. When I asked about the masks, before the thread was closed (in a nano-second), I got the response...I believe from 'geogirl'...that "Masks are required in Staples at all times", it's just not worth the trouble, especially taking into consideration the quality of the on-ice product. I'll wait until this pandemic is offcially over.

I made exception for a few Rams games because I wanted to see the new stadium (awesome!), but there's no way I'm going through all that BS to see the Kings gave a half-assed effort. With tickets on Stub Hub dropping to 14 bucks a game, it's still tempting, but I'm gonna wait.

My concern is for the "This is Not a Drill" concert in September. I bought tickets for the show almost two years ago. Waters ain't getting any younger (77 years old). Will he play a concert in a venue that requires masks? I highly doubt it.

It's been the same for me in the 100s. I got birthday tickets (for free) in the 300s and sat in the 100s. Same with my regular STH tickets in the 200s...sat in the 100s and nobody cared. It was actually kind of funny for one game at about 60% capacity, the usher in my 200s section was actually checking people's tickets to make sure they belonged in that section and not letting people it who didn't belong. They really should let anyone sit anywhere when attendance is this low. My other STH group pays for 100s level tickets a few rows off the ice and I don't care if someone sits next to me and paid 10% of what I did to sit there.

Yeah, I haven't seen mask wearing be enforced at all since game 2. But I'm double-vaxed, boosted, and I double mask if people around me aren't masked, which they rarely are. If they want to risk it, that's on them but with all that I'm gonna be fine going to games.

What I've seen at the games is about 2/3 of the time they're giving a strong effort and playing well enough to win. It's the other 1/3 that's the problem. But it's still worth it for me to go.

I also can't help but feel that they're also trying to "prey" on a group of people who will sign up for it, and don't actually use it. Like the ones with those Season Passes to Disneyland, and they never get their money's worth because they barely have time to actually go. Or the millions of people who have Netflix but don't actually use it, and are too lazy to cancel the subscription.

Then at the end of the day, as long as they fill up seats, they can gouge you in concessions, parking, and merchandise. That's where the real money is made.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss going to the games because I do miss seeing the Kings play in person. I spent so much time at Staples over the years it's strange not being there for 3 years now.

I don't like wearing masks. I know it's no big deal for a lot of people, as I have friends whose jobs require they wear masks 24/7, and I honestly don't understand how they can do it.

But it's one thing to wear a mask at work and another at an entertainment venue.

Like the majority of the fans at SoFi, I was maskless sitting in my seat, but for all practical purposes that's an outdoor venue.

To each his (or her) own, I'm gonna wait until this crap is over with. But it would be pretty cool going to Staples and having a lot of extra room to roam around and stretch your legs. It would bring back memories of the good ol Forum days!

Just in case it helps you (or anyone else). The medical masks are uncomfortable for that long, but I've found the KF94/KN94 mask is really easy to wear for a full game. I wore it nearly the entire trip (24+ hours each way) when I went to Kenya last month. It wasn't awesome but it was very doable.

1. Awesome (read: purchased). 2. Best insult from a stranger during a pandemic: **** you two masks! (a red-headed lady screamed at me while I was strolling through a parking lot on the way to the store). Laughed so hard I could not reply, respect. Game recognizes game.

I especially like these with the adjustable string. One of the really good things about them is they don't touch my mouth at all like the medical masks do.

EDIT: here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08WJPS6KY/?tag=robitaille-20

I wear the same KF94/KN94 mask to about 10 games with a cloth one on top of it. I just get home, hang it up, and it's sanitized for the next game - unless it's less than 48 hours then I rotate another one in. Then after 10 games I toss it out. Easy peasy.

LOL! As long as nobody gets hurt that **** is funny.
