SCOUTING REPORTS
From Draft Pro Hockey:
Quick and athletic puck stopper. Holds his edges well and plays patiently when the puck is below the goal line. Tracks the puck
well and has active hands with his gloves out front. Has good lateral movement. Is excellent at setting up the puck and he is a great puck mover and is confident when doing it. Iis calm in the net but can be resilient too. Is a goaltender who is technically very sound and limits the net his opponents see. Has good rebound control most games but on occasion lets too many pucks go out from his body. Is an all around solid goaltender. Has good box control and fights through screens and typically locates the puck. Has active eyes and is engaged in the game and is prepared for turnovers in his zone. Has a good post seal and strong movement in tight. Makes the saves he needs to make.
From McKeen’s:
Does he have the combination of high-end mobility and size that NHL scouts are looking for these days in their goaltenders? Definitely not. However, his play tracking and positioning are the best in this class among goaltenders. He’s almost always in the correct spot, covering his angles; his body control is excellent as he pushes laterally and front/back. Over the course of the season, his rebound control improved considerably too, as he coughed up fewer second chance opportunities, especially when having to fight through traffic to make saves despite not possessing ideal size (at 6’ 1”).
From Elite Prospects:
The immediate thing that will jump out to anyone that watches George is his puckhandling ability. He is as confident as they come, and will consistently send his team on breakouts with stretch passes. He doesn’t panic when pressured, and makes smart, quick plays when his options are limited. This isn’t a skill that is going to make or break his value as a prospect, but it’s a nice bonus to have on top of an already very exciting goaltender. It can’t be understated how good he is. He would be one of the better puckhandling goaltenders in the NHL if he was plunked into a lineup today – he’s that good
