***LA Kings vs. Dallas Stars GDT 12/4/24 >>7:00pm<< on TNT & max***

Gotta say.... This team has that "comeback spirit" that was sorely lacking in last year's team. Grinding out 3rd periods this season that we could have only dreamed of last year when we needed a huge lead by the end of the 2nd to ultimately win by a goal.

WE BEAT THE STARS!!! 3-2!1 I can't stop saying that and smiling. 36 years of Stars hatred is built into my soul
It's a 3-2 league, lol.

I missed the a lot of the 1st period but I did turn in on in time to catch the 1st goal. Anyway, after being down 2-0 I thought this would be another beatdown from the Stars. We always seem to get dominated by them. Not tonight. Great win by the Kings!

I don't think the 1st was that bad. Those goals were brutal.
We'll have to agree to disagree. It was 2-0 Stars with a 9-2 shot advantage. The first goal was complete garbage defense by the Kings. TNT showed it on the replay where we had a guy take the long way around the net. Basically the Stars had an uncovered forward in the slot where he got to take the shot and gather the rebound with no Kings defenders hounding him. BSD was hung out to dry there. Second goal was Clarke turning it over in the D zone. Marchment got it, Helenius made an ole' attempt at defense by lazily swinging his stick at Marchment. So we basically let a guy with 5 goals in 6 games skate into the slot and pick the corner over BSD's shoulder. And meanwhile the Kings had 2 weak shots on Dallas at that time. I forget the first but shot #2 was a Gavrikov wrister from the blue line. It looked like one of those shots in warmups where you are just trying to let the goalie get warmed up catching the puck.

The Kings stepped it up later though. They still got badly outshot but put goals past Otter and they took the body on the Stars every chance that they could. The game was kind of a heavyweight fight where the Kings just kept working the body. It looked like they might get KO'ed early but they chopped down the opponent with hard work and prevailed in the end.

So I missed the first and came home from minis game just in time to see the Edmonson goal. I didn't actually watch the TNT guys at intermission but I have to say that was a grinder of a game and I don't know how many times Hiller can just play a top 9 and get away with it in the long term. Worked last night though. Hopefully he can trust the whole lineup against Minny.

Another great win. Huge two points.

This four game run is definitely opening my eyes. I gotta admit I didn’t think this Kings team had it in them. Special teams still put a low ceiling on how good they can be but if they can fix either one then maybe we’ve really got something cooking here.

Definitely agree about the PP. How can seven or eight such gifted players stink so badly with the man advantage?

Great win, good job by big save. But those PPs often looked like PKs. Kopitar, likely the slowest guy on the ice, bringing in the puck? Kempe on the point ain't working either. 2nd unit isn't much better. PP needs a serious overhaul.

I realise he has a whole lot more on his plate than before, but I thought Jim Hiller was originally brought in by Todd McLellan to run the PP. I am also under the impression that it improved very significantly under his tutelage. If that is so, it seems really weird how the PP seems to have now reverted to being so consistently poor. Given its importance in games you'd think Hiller would do something specific about improving it.

Who coaches the PP now? Is it Newell Brown or D.J. Smith? I thought Trent Yawney was a coach too, but he's not listed on the Kings coaching staff on their website.
