Don’t look now, but coach Marco Strum has the Ontario Reign rolling — and perhaps most impressive is the fact they’re doing it without Alex Turcotte and Jacob Moverare, who remain up with the LA Kings.

Winners of four straight, the Reign will take to the ice on Sunday afternoon at Toyota Arena for the first of two straight home games against the Canucks. This pair of contests will close out Ontario’s season series with Vancouver, with the Reign currently holding a 2-3-1 record.

With the playoff push now underway, Abbotsford and Ontario are separated by just two points in the Pacific Division standings. At least for game one of the set, Sturm is expected to call upon rookie goalie Erik Portillo, who holds a .923 save percentage on the 2023-24 season. He’s 2-2-1 when facing Abbotsford this year, including a game just a few weeks ago where he only gave up one goal.
