Oh, what a difference 6-7 weeks can make.
(yes, it was on purpose)
Before diving into this weekend’s back-to-back set between the Reign and Eagles, let’s quickly flashback to their only other meeting thus far this season. It came in mid-October at Toyota Arena, during an early season stretch where coach Andrew Lord’s squad hadn’t quite found their groove yet.
Putting up 15 shots on goal that night usually wouldn’t have been a recipe for success, yet Ontario came away with a 3-2 victory that night. It also stands as their only win in 2025-26 when trailing after 40 minutes.
Much has changed since then. The Reign have won three in a row, and six of their last seven (no, we’re not trying to be funny this time).
Up front, they’re paced by Andre Lee’s 18 points, including 11 points (5G, 6A) in his last 11 games. He’s been getting it done on the power play as well, where his five goals with the man advantage lead all Ontario skaters.
Defensively, Kings prospect Angus Booth continues to impress since overcoming some early season injuries. He’s most often been paired with Kyle Burroughs of late, and Lord hasn’t shown any hesitation to use the duo in every situation imaginable.
In goal, veteran Pheonix Copley is expected to get the start. He’s won back-to-back games and a victory tonight will push his record to 7-6 (you see what we did there?)
While practice alignment earlier this week suggests Lord will largely be going with the same lineup he’s used in recent victories, we’ll expect netminder Carter Savoie to get the nod tomorrow.
