After waiting about a year to get back to the playoffs, LA finds themselves down 0-1 after Game 1 in their opening round series vs. Colorado.
Scoreless after 20 minutes at Ball Arena on Sunday, it was the home team who scored first. Yet, even trailing by a goal after 40 minutes, the Kings had to feel good heading into second intermission. When the Avalanche extended their lead to 2-0 in the final frame of regulation, the heat was on. When Artemi Panarin cut that deficit in half with under five minutes remaining in period three, coach DJ Smith and his team had hope. However, that was as close as the Kings would get.
LA lost 2-1, while Anton Forsberg made 28 saves in his playoff debut with the team.
Game Highlights:
Game 2 will be played Tuesday evening in Colorado, before Games 3 and 4 take place at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday and Sunday.
