Stop the presses, LA won a game in regulation. Perhaps social media can stop talking about it now. Maybe the focus instead should be on their performance thus far on the road. Through four games of the current five-game trip away from SoCal, coach Jim Hiller’s squad has picked up seven of a possible eight points.
What’s even more amazing is they had multiple leads in the other game (against Nashville on Saturday), a contest that needed nine rounds of a shootout to decide a winner. LA could be perfect on the trip, if not for that one blemish.
Enough about ‘could have been’ situations, though. Let’s deal with reality.
Sunday’s 3-1 victory over the Blackhawks was a more typical Kings win. They gave up an early goal, battled back in the second period, and locked things down in the third.
Alex Laferriere had multiple chances before finally scoring his second goal of the season. Kevin Fiala later notched his fifth goal of the young campaign, giving LA a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame of regulation. Joel Armia added an empty net goal to cap things off. It was his second consecutive game with a goal.
Earlier in the night, forward Warren Foegele left the game with an apparent injury. Kings PR has not released any additional information quite yet. An update is expected over the next 24 hours.

Additional game notes:
— Anton Forsberg made 22-of-23 saves. Giving up only one goal was a major improvement to the teams’ year-to-date performance. Thus far this season, LA has given up the seventh most goals in the league. This comes after giving up only the 25th most each of the last two years.
— Overall, the Kings only generated 22 shots on goal. Laferriere was credited with six of them. He must really like playing the Blackhawks, his goal in the game gave him five goals in seven career contests against Chicago.
— In a recurring theme, LA won only 44% of the faceoffs.
