There’s just something about playing the Canucks that seems to connect for Reign forward Andre Lee. He scored his last goal of the 2024-25 regular season against Abbotsford. His last two-goal game came up in Abbotsford. And less than three minutes into Friday’s contest, there he was — scoring against the Canucks again in their home barn.

Proudly wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey, the 6-foot-5 forward had himself a night too. Later, in the third period, Lee added a power play goal to essentially put the game out of reach for Abbotsford. Coach Andrew Lord saw his team up 4-1 at that point and with the way Pheonix Copley was playing in net, the end result seemed inevitable.

Stopping 24-of-26 shots faced, the veteran goaltender earned a victory in his first AHL start of the young season.

Lord went with largely the same lineup he used last weekend at home, although he is expected to give strong consideration to have Kings prospect Koehn Ziemmer draw in when the same two teams rematch on Sunday afternoon. Erik Portillo is also likely to get the call in net for that one.

With the win on Friday over last season’s Calder Cup Champions, Ontario moved to 3-1-1 on the season. The sit second in the Pacific Division, although first place Colorado has played one additional contest.
