Fresh off of earning a gold medal with Team USA at the recent World Junior Championship in Ottawa, Kings goaltending prospect Hampton Slukynsky returns to TV today when his Western Michigan team takes on Colorado College at 5pm PST.
His Broncos teammates extended their winning streak to seven games with a 4-1 victory over their same NCHC rival last night. That pushed WMU’s season record to 2-0-1 against the Tigers this season. That lone tie came in a game where Slukynsky was in net, making 27 saves, back in November.
Currently sitting No. 3 in the national rankings, WMU is poised to make the NCAA playoffs next month. On the season, Slukynsky — a freshman this season after earning Goaltender of the Year in the USHL one year ago — has amassed a .946 save percentage over his nine college starts. He is expected to get the start in Saturday’s game, which will be televised on NESN (DirecTV 628).
