$500.00
Eight-year extension at 7 mil a year, on average.

Not much left out there now. Oh wait....

So, we want to take a risk on a major neck injury or major shoulder injury with premium price tags? I say pass on both, the high end player(s) we're going to need will most likely be drafted and developed by other teams and will be ripe for overpayment by the time we're ready to compete again. If I see another Kovalchuk, Band-Aid type signing I'm going to sharpen my pitchfork, verbally anyway.

As much as I would have loved to have him, for the sake of the greater good of the hockey universe, I'm kinda glad to see them extend their captain with no drama.

"The deal has an annual average value of $7 million. Landeskog would have been highly sought-after on Wednesday if he would have been permitted to test the market as an unrestricted free agent, but this move prevents that from happening. "We are thrilled to have our captain signed to a long-term deal. Gabe is the heart and soul of this team and an integral part of our organization both on the ice and in the community," said GM Joe Sakic "He's the consummate leader, a great teammate, and alongside (Nathan) MacKinnon and (Mikko) Rantanen, is part of what has been one of the NHL's best lines over the past four seasons. We are excited to have Landy in an Avalanche sweater for many years to come." Landeskog has spent his entire 10-year career with Colorado. He had 20 goals and 52 points in 54 games last season. "

This kind of went the way I thought it would. I couldn't see how Landeskog would want to be anywhere else. Makes perfect sense....this was probably drama made up by the hockey media.

Looks like Saad now.

As Elton John once sang,
Saad Songs Say So Much.

No thanks to 8 year term on this. AAV is good because they bought the last few years.

I am perfectly fine with Rob Blake standing pat and not doing anything today.

So much talk about star forwards who would never consider signing here... at least not until the team makes playoffs a regular thing again.

Not to mention Blake talking forwards when this team needs more veteran stability and puck-moving skill on the blueline.

I feel like the most realistic outcome we can expect:
- Bridge deal for a middle-6 fwd
- Bridge deal for the blueline (I really hope)

To appease Doughty, Blake will have to make a trade.

I stand corrected. *Lengthy deal* for a middle-6 fwd: Danault for 6 Years
