I say pass on both, the high end player(s) we're going to need will most likely be drafted and developed by other teams and will be ripe for overpayment by the time we're ready to compete again. As much as I would have loved to have him, for the sake of the greater good of the hockey universe, I'm kinda glad to see them extend their captain with no drama.

So much talk about star forwards who would never consider signing here... at least not until the team makes playoffs a regular thing again.

Not to mention Blake talking forwards when this team needs more veteran stability and puck-moving skill on the blueline.

I feel like the most realistic outcome we can expect:
- Bridge deal for a middle-6 fwd
- Bridge deal for the blueline (I really hope)

To appease Doughty, Blake will have to make a trade.
