Wow...already an eventful day. I cannot imagine a scenario where Seattle doesn't take him. Then, again, this will apparently be a day full of surprises.

Here's where i feel like, unless LA is close on something solid, they should have at least sent a lwo pick for him. I get it, it forces us to expose someone else, but man... If we wind up protecting Brown.

How long before Seattle can flip him and eat half the cap hit? January?

Perhaps it just shows that Tarasenko doesn't have the value in today's market that we may think he has. I read an article yesterday which stated Tarasenko identified 10 teams he would be willing to be traded to and the Kings were not on the list.

Judging by Philadelphia and others there may be some pretty good gambles with high dollar contracts exposed so Seattle definitely will have options.

I assume they would not have left him unprotected if they could have gotten anything for him. I guess they did not want to retain salary and couldn't get a trade done without doing so.

Probably to no one's surprised I'm not in the least bit interested in this guy playing for the Kings. I haven't a clue what this all means but Seattle can have him for all I care.

Exactly. Everyone wants them to retain salary, so before you do that, why not see if Seattle takes it all and gets the problem off your hands? Perfectly logical.

Completely agree.

Landeskog has apparently been left exposed as well. Price in Montreal too.

Armstrong has told Tarasenko’s camp, according to a source, that no teams are interested in the player, who has scored 30-plus goals in five of his nine NHL seasons but has since had three shoulder operations. The source added that Los Angeles, New Jersey, Carolina and Boston, among other teams, have each expressed interest and were willing to take on Tarasenko’s $7.5 million salary-cap hit for the next two seasons, but Armstrong has not found a suitable return.

This makes no sense. They were not offered enough but are willing to let the Kraken take him for nothing?

Well, the Kraken are restricted from buying out players selected in the expansion draft until summer 2022, but I suppose a trade and retaining salary could likely happen anytime.

I'd take Vladi in a heartbeat, but it's academic since he's
evidently not interested in coming to Los Angeles.

The only way it makes sense to me is if they are afraid of losing someone to Seattle. I don't pay attention to STL that much, so I can't say it's this guy, but I think it's someone offered them a pick or two - nothing great obviously. So, STL must be thinking: well if we just expose him then Seattle takes him instead of X player - that's more valuable to us then some picks? Only way it makes any sense to me.

Same article says that at this point he's willing to go anywhere, he just wants out.

But seriously, with my connection to St. Louis and all my hockey friends there, I've watched quite a few Blues games over the years...and I've probably seen the Blues play in LA more than any other team...and I've seen Tarasenko play many times. The guy can put the puck in the back of the net.

Yes, I'm very well aware of the shoulder issues, but as I mentioned in previous threads, I've overcome many types of shoulder injuries over the years. And yes, it's a complicated joint that takes time to heal...but it can heal and be 100%. That I know for a fact.

The Kings need scorers. That's also a fact.

The biggest complaint I've heard over the years from Blues fans is Vladi didn't give 100% in every game. Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to reinvigorate, reenergize and re-motivate a player. It happens all the time. And I don't blame him for wanting out of Missouri. It sucks.

If the Kraken don't take him, I certainly hope the Kings at least try.

I too have spent a lot of time in St Louis and many friends there, concur with everything you are saying. Night to night effort has been a concern. If this was the situation two years ago I would agree with giving it a try but I’m not sure the current environment in LA is going to bring out the best of what’s left of him.

If Tarasenko can take the time to get his shoulder healthy, his attitude can be a great asset to any team. I also have connections to St Louis and have watched him in many warmups.....he goes to EVERY player and greets them, mostly with hugs or a friendly gesture for those who are less "huggy". My thinking on why he is so desperate to get out of St. Louis is he feels too much pressure there, maybe he WANTS to be "not the guy"?
St. Louis has a ton of Alumni that live there and are very active with the team, and it's a great "family" town, so it's very interesting to me that he seems to want out. Maybe he just feels it's time to move on, not carry the burden of being the leader?

I can’t remember where I read it or all of the details. But the reason he wants out of St. Louis is because he’s not happy with the way the team doctors have treated his shoulder injuries.
