For many years Nick and Daryl were on the radio for my commute to/from band practice. Nick was great at PbP announcing, and I always thought that he and Daryl rivaled Bob/Jim.

Whether listening to the radio or watching a game, us Kings fans were very lucky to have four really talented announcers working for our team. Best in the league IMO!

I hope you have a wonderful retirement, Mr. Nickson!

Loved Nick on the Radio, could tune in and just by his voice I could tell if we were winning or not.

I think if we get Josh Schaefer we will be in a good place for Kings broadcasts. He's local, paid his dues and is quite good.

I had to look up his reel. I think he’s a good PbP announcer. Maybe a little too exuberant at times, but overall pretty good. Can he work well with Jim is the main question. I remember Faust having a bit of trouble in that area. It was too obvious at times from Fox.

Definitely a sad day. Kings ousted by the Oilers and no more Nick.

As I posted here earlier this year, we've been spoiled here in the City of Angels by our legendary play-by-play announcers: Dick Enberg, Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, Bob Miller and Nick.

I hope Nick has a long and happy retirement. But he will be missed.

He actually filled in for a few games earlier this season. He was good, I don't recall anyone really complaining about him. (in the game day threads).
