Trade Deadline Thread

….should be grateful Anshutz is an absentee owner and not hands on.
If so he should have been gone already with his list of costly errors.
Bergevin was brought in from Montreal as a backup to Blake and is apparently still on the payroll.
Blake had better improve the roster prior to the upcoming deadline or we’re faced with another early playoff exit… presuming we stay in the race having lost 4 straight.
2 games against a desperate St. Louis team will show how the rest of the season goes.

So someone’s finally got the courage to talk about the elephant in the room, huh?

May want to read more threads before starting this one.

how would you like to see Blake improve the team and who are you willing to trade to make that happen?

I love how clean those hits are. I nice smooth hip check or shoulder to shoulder hit. Given how big he was he could have went head hunting but didn't.
He needs to go head hunting as a GM, tho. :skull:
I think some people forget that Blake is/was massive. Every bit of 6’ 4” 220 and a very good skater for his size. A lot of those smaller forwards actually ran themselves over just by making contact with him. Pretty tough to beat physics at the end of the day.

And then there was that bomb of a slap shot. The guy had a cannon from the point.

The best thing Blake did as a King was hold out...that turned into trading him for Deadmarsh. That was a fun team!

I see him moving up ladder and Luc getting bigher roll that he's aeg not qualified for, again. Then Bergevin moves in to GM role. Only hope for franchise is Bergevin has learned some lessons along the way and also realizes its 2025 not 1995
If Bergevin becomes our next GM I will have a really hard time supporting this team. Bergevin had a sizable history of making morally questionable moves during his time in Montreal.

I'm the minority but I actually think Blake is a good, but not great, GM. His biggest failures have come since the time in which Bergevin was brought on as the advisor (with the exception of his weak choices in coaches).

When Blake goes, Luc and Bergevin should go also.

I have always been a Blake supporter; however, this team is stagnant. If they somehow pull off playoff spot, they are done in 4 or if lucky 5 games. Edmonton just got better with the trade for Frederick. Now Edmonton is tougher to play against. The Kings are soft, with hardly any physical presence and the players have seemed to have lost their passion. I guess if you are going to have a losing streak, better now than at the end of the season, if they can stop this one.

The only thing a playoff spot does, it guarantees the organization two extra pay days.

I am sensing a bit of Deja Vu. We just went through this same thing last year, where some of us figured we had little chance of winning more than a single game come playoff time.

I think our 4th line is worse this year. I have zero faith in Rob Blake making any moves to make this team better. I was mad at Blake for trading a 2nd and a 4th for a warm body in Tanner Jeannot. Mad at him for signing a "redundant" player in Edmundson. This team needed a LHD to help get the puck up ice to generate some form of offense. What bBake did was bring in another stay at home LHD.

You have issues with the Edmundson signing?? Weird.

Blake did NOTHING at the trade deadline last season and the Kings were eliminated in the first round for the third straight season by the Oilers. He's worthless and incompetent as a GM so far. He's got 2 days to prove me wrong. The Oilers have already made a move to strengthen their lineup. This Kings roster is not good.

And then got taken to the woodshed by the Ducks. The hope is they overpay over the next 2 days making it harder to compete long term.

Getting offer sheeted last summer is hurting them now more than ever.
