If Saturday seemed like a possible mirage for followers of this year’s Kings team, Sunday may have created a few more believers. In the first of a back-to-back set at home this weekend, coach Jim Hiller saw his LA team club Carolina 7-2. It was a night that saw all 12 Kings forwards get on the score sheet in the same game — the first time that had happened in over 50 years of Kings hockey.
How did they top that in Sunday’s battle with Boston? Not only did LA put up another seven goals — that’s not a typo — they somehow managed to get even more players involved offensively. Per stats guru Blake Warye, Sunday’s game vs. the Bruins marked the first time in Kings franchise history that 16 different players recorded a point in the same game.
There is plenty to unpack here, including Quinton Byfield scoring again, Anze Kopitar helping settle the group down after an early Bruins goal, a near goalie fight, and much more.
Video highlights of all the action can be seen below.
