Saturday night brought a celebration to Los Angeles that was first scheduled for early December. After a variety of different circumstances delayed things a few times, Trevor Lewis finally received his silver stick in honor of playing 1,000 NHL games.
With nearly 800 of his games coming in Los Angeles, and now in his 17th NHL season, it was definitely fitting that the Utah native achieved the mark while playing for the same team that selected him back in 2006 — Dean Lombardi’s first Draft as the team’s new General Manager.
Standing alongside his family for a brief ceremony prior to the Kings-Ducks game, Lewis received several different gifts. Then, near the end of everything, listen closely and you can hear Doughty deliver a quick one-liner as he skates away from the group.
