Ok, what do we know about this guy?.....

This from the Rink Royalty site

It looks like the LA Kings are dipping their toes into the KHL waters again, as the team is reportedly signing Russian forward Vladimir Tkachyov.
The LA Kings are reportedly nearing a contract agreement with Russian forward Vladimir Tkachyov.

kachyov played the last five seasons in the KHL; the last two were spent with perennial KHL powerhouse SKA St. Petersburg. He scored 38 points (11-27-38) in 45 regular-season games this past season, plus eight (1-7-8) in 11 playoff games.

From Oscar Fantenberg to Ilya Kovalchuk to Nikolai Prokhorkin, the Kings have made several signings out of the KHL in recent years. Though none have worked out too well for them yet, it doesn?t seem like it?s dissuaded the Kings from continuing to look to Russia for help.

Tkachyov does have some experience playing hockey in North America, having played for the Moncton Wildcats and Quebec Ramparts of the QMJHL in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

This post will be updated with the contract terms and dollars.

The Oilers had him in camp a few years back and tried to sign him but the NHL voided it because he was still draft eligible and hadn't played a full year here. The next year he went undrafted again. Seems like a wafer thin prospect but he's produced so why not.

[Knowing this question is rhetorical, she persisted] Our storied history?

154 lbs. ?? bring him over early and introduce him to In-N-Out and hope he doesn't turn into Vladimir Krutov.

According to John Hoven, It is pronounced "catch-ev" and the North American spelling is Tkachev.

This player needs to go on a strict diet. 154 is way too heavy for a hockey player in the pee wee division.

Meh. Another lottery ticket type player. Which wouldn't be too bad but I feel like we've got 30 out of the 50 players in the contract limit department as longshots or guys who need to improve something to make it work in LA. I definitely like the idea of taking a gamble on a skilled player for the roster. It probably means the end for Luff, Brickley, and some of the undrafted guys who never panned out.

Scherbak..., Prokhorkin...., 3rd time's a charm

It'll work this time

I hope he turns into another Russian phenom like this kid:

Per the Mayor:

"His minor league salary is listed at $80K, yet we don’t expect that really to be a factor here. From what we understand, if he isn’t able to secure an NHL roster spot, Tkachyov and the Kings will utilize the European Assignment Clause in his contract and he’ll head back to the KHL."

This player is suited to play against the huge and fast lines in the Pacific. He would dominate!
