But we have some folks around here that simply love to complain.

Our complaints are 100% justified. None of us has ever been, nor will ever be, an NHL GM for the Kings. But nearly all of us were able to see mistakes that were made miles ahead of Taylor, Blake, Holland, etc.

With all their experience, edumacation, training and business savvy, you’d think they’d make us ignorant fanboi plebs look like fools.

The Kings have been very good with two top wingers in Fiala and Kempe 2 years ago. Now we have three and one top 6 C less.

But I agree...it would have to be for a young #2C player with some upside and on a good, long term contract. McTavish seems to fit the bill.

Kuzmenko is capable of being a 2nd line winger, too, if Moore is also traded in the offseason. It's a role that would suit him more than 3rd line duties. Moore also has 2nd line capabilities if Kuz doesn't resign. There's certainly some risk involved in that neither get the job done well enough, but the Kings can't afford (or rather shouldn't) to play it safe and risk-free. We don't have "surplus" quality prospects (apart from goalies) to trade away and I don't want Ken to spend more than 1st rounder this offseason.

CBJ has the cap space to resign him, too, and apparently he wants to stay. If Ken manages to sign him despite that I can see a 2A-2B line situation where Fiala plays with a more dynamic center. Maybe that's where Turcotte finally gets his chance...but what happens if (when) Turcotte gets injured? Helenius? Connors?

That's why I'd prefer Fiala traded for a #2C, Laughton signed as a #3C and then you try and find whatever works on the left wing. There's more flexibility and more depth available this way at the sacrifice of the top end talent, but again, there will be the new magician in the house for the entire season.

I appreciate the background. Doesn’t sound like a Fiala fit for speed. Fair points. And if he wants to stay in CLB good for them. I think we all have a soft spot for the Blue Jackets. And if not you should ha.

Signing Laughton needs to be a priority regardless and his payday shouldn’t interfere with a second line center’s payday. One of Moore or Fiala will be moved, one of Edmundson or Dumo will be moved, and I’m confident one of the goalies will be moved.

Oh my. As a Kings fan, guaranteed I knew this story and a little part of me is sad that I forgot it. But, reading about how Taylor, Sandstrom and Tony effing Granato not only got on the score sheet but did not take their foot off the gas makes me so happy. All the fan faves.
