Poor Alex Tuch....

For how long it dragged out, I expected more. I would've thought with our boatload of prospects we could've spared one prospect a pair of first rounders, but whatever, many reasons to not go for him - health and our insane amount of centers. They must've demanded Byfield.

Buffalo should've just backed him for his choice on how to handle his injury. They were never going to get equivalent value for him.

and in every sense imaginable the VGK are this generation's San Hose Sharks

Does that make this the Joe Thornton trade?

Vegas won the trade. I'm not looking forward to Eichel beating up on the Kings for the next 5 years.

Glad he wasn't traded to the Kings. Also Stone, nice throwback reference to the Smythe!

Vegas is going to miss Tuch come playoff time. He was easily their best forward in the post-season..

Who needs Tuch when you have Michael Amadio.

Assuming Eichel recovers fully, yes. But I don't think it's bad for Buffalo under the circumstances. They get three good assets, a lot of cap relief and an end to the distraction.

Today's useless trivia: Per CapFriendly, Buffalo's trade deadline cap space will be $72,123,625.

yeah glad we skipped sending Byfield....because JE is a gamble...and Byfield is a sure winner...

super unimpressed so far

Lots of upside with JE but can you imagine if we traded for him, sent Byfield and another key prospect + draft picks and Eichel gets injured and never plays again? Just too much risk and Vegas is going to have problems in the future keeping all these guys.

I think the Kings believe strongly enough in the prospect pool to not give up the future for an uncertain future with Eichel.

That is a perfect description of kings trade luck. Even if he works out for Vegas if we acquired him some sort of disaster would have ensued

Weird trade. An out for the season A List guy traded for an out for the season B List guy.

I said from the beginning of the Eichel gossip I didn't want him. Too much baggage, drama and medical risk. Much rather see our prospect plans play out and trade for a key B List guy when the time is right.

Yeah but Buffalo also traded for the carcass of Johnny Boychuk and his 6 million dollar contract today.

If the Kings were to pull off a similar trade it would be, Turcotte + Iafallo (or Kempe) a 1st and a 2nd. Byfield was NEVER going to happen no matter how unimpressed Jran is.

It doesn’t seem like a great deal for Buffalo. But when you have him wanting a possibility risky surgery & Buffalo not retaining any salary, maybe that’s the best they could get. Vegas is going to let him have his surgery & it’s supposed to be 3 months before he’s back on the ice. Vegas will also be $10 million over the cap unless they make a move. He might also get kucheroved & miss the full season on LTIR then come back for the playoffs.

And does anyone else think that Eichel looks like the bad guy privileged bully opposing player in every Disney underdog sports movie? Or is that just me?

Eichel's health is a gamble, though I'd say from everything I've read, it sounds like this surgery is pretty reasonable and has been perfected over the last twenty years. Is Byfield a sure winner - absolutely not. All I'm saying is maybe management looked at it and felt it wasn't worth the risk. You can whine about it all you want, along with 30 other teams' fans. Whatever LA offered, BUF liked this deal better. I think even without Byfield we could have offered a better package - but this is what's happened, so what can you do about it? For all we know, they did offer Byfield and BUF still thought this was a better package.
