Has anyone else ever noticed how many …chuk surnames there are in hockey?

Sawchuk
Hawerchuk
Kovalchuk
Tckachuk
Kosmachuk

And a lot more that I’m forgetting. I even found an old quiz about naming NHL players with ‘chuk’ in their surnames.

Lots of Ukrainian immigrants to Canada back in the day. What other ‘chuks’ are there?

It’s a Ukrainian thing. And apparently there’s a lot of Ukrainians in Canada. The Sabres used to have “The ChukWagon” with Dave Andreychuk, Dale Hawerchuk, Clint Malarchuk, and I think one more?! I can’t remember? It was a long time ago.

Clint Malarchuk if you don’t know….is the goalie who had his neck slashed during a game, and almost bled out before getting off the ice. I saw the actual video, and there was so much blood, it almost looked fake!
But being the badass that he was, he was back playing a few weeks later!
