Who/what would you trade for Sam Reinhart?

Since a few other teams are reportedly interested in him, the price could soar,
making the trade a no-go for us.

Here's my best offer, which likely would not be enough, but I'd thought I should at least try.

Vilardi/Kempe/Clague/Helge Grans/3rd round 2021 draft pick
for
Reinhart

I might even be willing to say, substitute Rasmus Kupari for Clague or Grans,
but that is as far as I would ever go on this deal.

I think that is generous as hell, but I'm probably pretty biased.

****I am NOT willing to trade the 2021 #8 pick, for sure.****

So, am I cheap-ass, or giving up the ranch?

Any other offer ideas out there?

Surely you're not suggesting all of that for Reinhart are you?

Curious: won't the Seattle expansion draft affect this? Since there would be so many players involved this would have to affect the protection list for both Buffalo or the Kings? Same thing for any deal for Eichel.

Example: If the Kings traded Jonathan Quick right now and did not get a draft eligible goalie in return they would have to un-protect Peterson and they would almost assuredly lose him in the draft. I know that won't happen but it does affect trades you can make BEFORE the expansion draft.

Honestly, I wouldn’t even trade just Vilardi for Reinhart! I still think #13 will be a very good player for the Kings, hopefully for a long time!

Not Vilardi/Kempe/Clague/Grans/3rd round pick.

Buffalo might take that offer for Eichel as things stand, that's a lot of assets. I don't know anything about Reinhart but a deal like 8th + Thomas + Grans gets you real close.

I wouldn't trade Kempe. Hopefully he can keep improving as more talent is injected into the team.

Reinhart is a good, productive #2 Center. Looks like he'll be a 30 goal scorer but to this point in his career he's extremely one dimensional. Buffalo has not trusted or even asked him to be a 200 foot player. Hell they barely ask him to be a 100 foot player. He's more like a 75 foot player. The guy is deployed 70% of the time in the offensive zone. If LA were to acquire him you can expect his numbers to drop significantly because there's no chance he'll get sheltered to that level.

Why not add Kopitar and Doughty? Certainly you are not serious with this proposal

I would give up the #8 pick but not all those players. I'd give up any of our NHL centers except Kopitar. So either Vilardi, Andersson, Lizotte, or JAD. And possibly another prospect except for Byfield, Turcotte, Kupari, or Kaliyev. Or if I did give up one of those top prospects (not Byfield), instead of the 8th pick I'd give up one of our 2nd round picks.

And that might be too much. I'm thinking it would be more like

1st rounder + Lizotte or JAD + any prospect except Byfield, Kupari, Turcotte, or Kaliyev. OR
2nd rounder + Vilardi or Andersson + any prospect except Byfield or Kaliyev.

OK. Omit Kupari, then.

BUT . . .

Maybe a better move would be to sign Ryan Nugent Hopkins without
having to trade ANYBODY?

I love Vilardi. But his value is still relatively high right now.

If he plays all next season and falters again as 2nd line C, his value will plummet.

Keeping the #8 pick is a biggie for me (I want Lambos or Guenther).

And hey, I'll happily unload Helge Grans anytime.

If we traded Clague, would we have to expose another D-man in the exp draft?

Yet another center? I think the Kings need to look at wingers and left defense. At least that is what seems to be coming from Blake et al.

Depending what they get in return they would be exposing players that are already being left off of the protected list. Nothing would have changed since Clague is one of the players on the "bubble". So if they traded him for a draft pick then that is just one less player they have to worry about losing for nothing.

Grans may end up being a lot better than anyone you get at #8 . He's rough around the edges and will need time, but in terms of upside, he's probably the Kings' best defensive prospect.

Agreed, I'd prefer the Kings do this and then work on converting Vilardi to a wing.

RNH is redundant on this team. He is a pass first small Center. We don't have top 6 forwards who will benefit from his playmaking. He is going to cash in big time since there isn't any quality FAs this summer. Rob will be dumb to give him 7 year contract, which what he will most likely get. we need some decent goal scorers for our Centers to play. Imagine Byfield playing with the likes of Iafallo/Grundstrom/Brown/Wagner/AA not a pretty sight.

Col fans talking about letting Landeskog walk in FA. He's everything this team needs. I see no way in hell Col lets him walk, but that's a guy id sign if the opportunity arose.

Agreed on the need for a scoring winger. The Kings need to pick up some decent top 6 guys so that we can evaluate what our youngsters can really do at the NHL level.

I'd trade #8 overall and some crap for the rights to Reinhart. The Kings definitely need to get some NHL players onto the roster rather than lottery tickets in prospects/picks.
