The Simpsons' Apu will no longer be voiced by Hank Azaria
https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/...roversy-hank-azaria-will-not-voice-character/

Say what you want about me(honestly, too old and cranky to care), but this is the end of reason. It's a cartoon. Get over it. It isn't little black Sambo for F_ _ _'s sake. And, THIS IS NOT AN OPINION, I go to many many 7-11's. And...at MOST of the ones I frequent, this is what the workers sound like. Not an opinion, a true fact. Maybe your experience is different, but this is MY reality. Ok, going forward...if we want to homogenize everything, have Indian characters voiced by Colin Firth for all I care. Apu should be grandfathered in. Y'know, the Simpsons have also shown Apu's culture in quite a few episodes. Cannot vouch to their veracity, but they seemed respectful. What's next? Are surfers going to complain about Snake...the criminal frequently shown on Simpsons, because he has a 'dude' affect? What about Bumble Bee man Ay-Yi-yi!!!!

I think they are (or rather some people) are overreacting to the whole Apu fiasco.

But if Azaria steps down and an Indian actor voices the character, it is a compromise I am OK with.

Writing the character out is too much and hypocritical. And it just opens a pandora's box.

For those interested the final reboot of Evangelion movie #4 just dropped on Amazon Prime this evening
