Kempe injury update

There was no blood that I recall. It was a logo on the towel. He fell/sat on his hand, while his hand was holding the stick. So, the hand/wrist was not able to stretch/flex/contort etc. It was immobile hence the injury. Sprain or fracture IMO. A skate never was close to his hand. Not sure how it could have been cut.

The weird part is that folks were saying there appeared to be blood on the towel. Didn't look remotely like there was a skate blade near him so is it possible there was a compound fracture that broke through the skin?
Jesus. Poor Adrian. The Kings just can't catch a break (I know, bad pun...)

I have broken literally every bone in my body (motorcycles, racing, industrial accidents), and I had one broken wrist. It was twisted over 180 degrees and the skin opened up where the wrist was broken because the skin literally 'stretched' open...but I was in an ambulance and didn't know if all that blood was from the wrist or the finger that was ripped off (the finger was successfully re-attached, but my career as a bass player went down the tubes). After surgery and the subsequent re-wrapping of the bandages, I noticed there was a small set of sutures on the side of my wrist. Along with over 100 sutures on the severed finger.

Looking at the photo, it's almost impossible to tell if it was a compound fracture, or maybe it was tweaked so hard it simply broke the skin open as mine did. If you bend something far enough, the skin will tear from the stress. And I can tell you first hand it was extremely painful.

One thing for sure: Adrian Kempe is a tough guy. I was screaming in pain and went into shock. His reaction seemed to indicate it wasn't that horrible. That boy has a high pain threshold.

Whatever it is, that's horrible news. I just hope Adrian can recover soon and get back to normal for next season.

Just watched the replay. Looks like it could be somewhat minor, or pretty bad. He was not holding his stick in that hand like I thought. though it could have been the other player's stick. He did place his hand down, then falls on it. At the point when his body lands on it, you can see his arm slide/pop backwards a good 2-3 inches. Hard to tell, could be a compound fracture. His arm did not look straight when he was skating off, but it is so hard to tell.

The towel was used to cover up something. No need to hide a sprain or fracture.

Ceci could have been called for any number of penalties on that play - tripping, holding, interference. When the Kings are in Edmonton, nothing good or fair seems to happen.
Refs were determined to not call anything late in the game. The rationale being they don’t want to be the deciding factor in a close game right? The reality is swallowing your whistle gives a distinct advantage to the defending team. I hate this mentality. If there’s a penalty, call it!

Those speculating a compound fracture... really? If a bone protrudes through the skin you think he'd just sit there on the bench however briefly with a towel over it?... Dear God, I'd be screaming "Get me to the frickin hospital and some morphine stat!" (but of course, I'm not a hockey player...)
