2025 Draft lottery

Zonnon went earlier than anticipated at 22nd overall to the Pittsburgh Penguins, but I'm optimistic that the Kings will get one of the popular defensemen on this board in either Sascha Boumedienne or Blake Fiddler. I'm guessing Yannetti & the organization must feel like they can settle for Henry Brzustewicz, if need be, but forward Malcolm Spence could be a value pick and rehabilitation project as he already projects to be a solid second-line contributor.
So they wanted Brzustewicz all along from that group. Interesting.

From ESPN.com:

"Brzustewicz is the next prospect from the factory that is the London Knights. The blueliner projects as a steady, mobile transition defender with the potential to grow into a No. 4 or 5 NHL blueliner.

A right-handed shot with a strong defensive foundation, he maintains good gap control, moves the puck very well and supports plays while remaining positionally sound. In an elevated role, his offensive creativity developed dramatically. He jumped into the rush, evaded forecheckers and created scoring chances with quality passes to the slot.

If he continues to develop his confidence and play-driving ability, Brzustewicz could evolve into a reliable second-pairing defender. Without that growth, he still holds value as a depth puck mover with a good defensive foundation."

Looks like he could be a solid two-way D-man for our system.

Probably has something to do with him playing on the London Knights, and the scouting staff seeing him play with Jared Woolley for a while now.

To add, Kaleb Lawrence was also a deadline addition by the knights in 23/24, so Henry has certainly had Kings scouts watching his development intently for the last two seasons, with very long playoff runs resulting in championships, thrown in for good measure.

I give up… another right shot, physically unimposing defenseman… disappointing.
I agree with you, really wish they had grabbed Fiddler with one of their two chances to do so. We badly need a big, physical D's willing to use their body and physically wear down the opponents in a playoff series. I do, however, wonder why Fiddler has slipped so much (maybe there is something to it).

That said, Bryzustewicz was a bit of stretch at 31, but not a bad pick and probably better than any other D prospect the Kings currently have in the pipeline. Given he is in one of the best development programs, currently, I have high hopes for him.

I don’t know why anyone would be disappointed with this pick. Unless you had someone else you were hoping for & they didn’t pick your guy. But he sounds decent. And we don’t need him right away, so he can develop. I just need to find out how to pronounce his last name. That’s a lot of consonants.

Have we not learned that Florida won 2 Cups back to back without being physically huge (in fact, smaller than the Kings on average)? I don't mind his size, I just hope he's capable with the puck on his stick to go along with his defensive sound-ness...

I hope he is put in the package that brings Byram to the Kings.

I'm maybe a little biased being 1/8th Chinese, but with the talk for the Kings' need for big skilled defenseman, especially with upside, I'm quite intrigued with Haoxi (Simon) Wang. He apparently also exhibited some physicality in his OHL playoff run.

He supposedly could be a late first-rounder, but that would look like a surprise pick. It seems more likely that he'll be a second-round pick. The kid is described as being devoted to hockey with a hunger and eagerness to do whatever it takes to be a full-time NHLer as he figures out what type of player he should be.

He sounds almost too good to be true, so there's obviously a lot of hype--warranted or not--to his feel-good story. However, I genuinely think he's a moldable piece of clay with a high ceiling that our developmental staff can do something with.

In any case, I say, "Give me the big Wang!".

Wang Could Be Historic Selection at 2025 NHL Draft
I'm guessing and hoping that the Kings are targeting my boy Simon Wang with the 59th overall pick in the second round, but I think they'll need to trade up to pull that off.
No Wang Dang Doodle or Wang Chung for me today as those dirty Sharks took my boy with the first pick in the second round at 33rd overall in the draft. I knew Yannetti would have to trade up to secure the Big Wang.

Also, the Kings missed out on goaltender Semyon Frolov as the Canes took him 41st overall.
