From World Juniors to the Olympics, there’s simply nothing like international hockey. As great as the sport is without it, pitting best on best typically allows for everything to rise to a new level. Saturday night in Montreal was no exception.

Finland taking on Sweden, two bitter rivals, was a fantastic game that will likely not receive the attention it deserves given what happened later in the day. What a contest, though!

For the better part of the last three decades, Canada and USA have been at the heart of hockey’s top tournaments, regardless of the level or age of players. While central to Saturday’s overall theme — even as great as many of their previous matchups have been — nobody could have predicted what unfolded at the 4 Nations Face-off main event.

It was perfection.
