Loser: 'Low Winter Sun'
The huge "Breaking Bad" ratings have made the low ratings of its new Sunday night partner look even worse by comparison. Sunday night's episode lost a whopping 75 percent of the "Breaking Bad" audience leading into it, and an incredible 83 percent of adults 18-49. It's like ABC's failures at using "Lost" to launch a new show behind it: when "Breaking Bad" is over, its fans only want to watch, talk and think about "Breaking Bad" some more. AMC has tried to use previews for other shows — first "Breaking Bad," then mega-hit "The Walking Dead" — as bait to lure viewers into watching until at least the first "LWS" commercial break, but it hasn't helped. AMC isn't in the habit of pulling or moving its shows in mid-season, but we may be at a point where "LWS" either trades places with "Talking Bad," or perhaps gets pushed to Saturdays in favor of an instant "Breaking Bad" replay. Even if AMC stays the course all season, the audience has rejected the show, and many critics have dismissed it as a watered-down imitator of all the gritty anti-heroes that have preceded it (including the one that AMC airs an hour earlier).

This has been terribly disappointing. It's basically the same theme repackaged week to week.

The thing with LWS to me is it is just too dark and confusing if you blink or fall asleep for 5 mins. :) You get a tiny little breadcrumb every episode. After 4 eps they just seem to be: avoiding IA guy, trying to want to frame someone, showing a bit more of the 'bad guys'. I'm still watching but it's not a must-see.

Kingsqueen was really proud of herself when she renamed it Sllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Winter Sun. I razzed her for picking low hanging fruit...but yeah. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lennie James/Mark Strong...and even Gale from BB, but this show has soooooo little meat on it's bones. I championed this loud and often, and I feel sooooo let down. I would have bet the house...and woulda been homeless. THEY LOST 78% OF THE LEAD IN!!!!!!! An instant re-run of BB would double or triple their numbers...

The shooting accuracy in that past episode compared to a random Walking Dead episode.

haha, no kidding. the pic that was texted to walt and the following phone call were awesome though.
pretty interesting how brock kept looking at walt uncomfortably.

I was so angry when they cut to the titles.

Nothing has been predictable about this ending so far.

Hasn't Hank learned, you never earnestly tell your wife you love her at such a critical point. Kiss of death.

Yeah that was pretty ridiculous to have them all miss in that situation, especially with agent Gomez standing in the open.

I expected him getting popped by a sniper as soon as he said it.

as far as the missing...the Aryan nation had a lot of cover, so that explains Hank/Gomez fail. As far as the AN well just look at the guns. My opinion is that the more automatic the gun is the less precise the shooter is. Yeah, it's implausible...but not overly so. I will allow it. Besides, I expect that to be corrected 5 minutes into the next episode. Time to start saying goodbye to folks.

A lot of chatter around the 'net regarding the shootout and accuracy of the participants... this screen capture is a good gague as to both sides (more towards the Todd's Uncle & crew though) perspective:

Good catch. The reverse angle made it seem like there was a wide chasm between the SUV and the car. My biggest problem with the shoot out is that Uncle Adolf allowed his boys to open fire with Walt potentially caught in the crossfire. The whole reason the klan rode out to the Reservation was to rescue Walt and here they are unloading automatic weapons within a couple feet of the guy they're supposed to be saving.

Well, we are talking about a neo-Nazi, meth dealer, criminal gang here. They are not necessarily known for their rigorous safety protocols. They're not even wearing eye or ear protection! Also, rifle rounds are going to go through that SUV like a hot knife through butter, so there's that. I also appreciate the use of a fully automatic shotgun. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every mother****er in the room, accept no substitute!

I was expecting them to flank Hank too. It's pretty obvious with Jesse playing with the door handle forever that he made it.

I'd like to see a spinoff for the neo-Nazi gang. Kind of like what Sons of Anarchy should have been.
