All Things:AMC television

That's my point.

We're presented with the idea that this otherwise perfectly decent human being becomes a monster based on the choices he makes when faced with a desperate situation (the cancer doncha know).

But so early one we're given a glimpse into what kind of man Walter White is. He refuses money that could save his life and a job opportunity that would elevate him and his family out of middle class humdrummery.

And he angrily refuses it.

Why?

Pride. Pride mixed with deceit, cowardice, avarice, resentment and a desire to control the people he claims to love and respect most in the world.

Walter White does everything for his family? What kind of man would do the things he's done for his family if he truly loved them when the Gray Matter option is on the table?

I think that's a loose end that has yet to be tied up.
Why was Walt so pissed at Gretchen and why did he refuse the job at Grey Matter?
Is it those thing you state or is there more to it?
I wonder if they'll address it.
Not a lot of program left.

If Walt comes back to save Jesse and succeeds, Jesse would probably still kill Walt.

Or...

Maybe after time goes by, Walt learns that Jesse is still alive and cooking for Todd's group, and he is coming back to finish the job himself. The hardware is meant to be used in case the scum get in his way.

Jesse had already gone to the cops once, and he could still affect Skylar and his kids future. My gut says Walt is done with Jesse.

Why would Todd (and family) even care about keeping Jesse around to cook? They just had $70m drop in their lap.

Time to move to anywhere else.

That's what I said when Hank figured out who Walt was.

Disappear the family using Saul's contact.

That wouldn't make for a very interesting story though and there were more episodes to make.

It's just greed. It's like the top 1%. They love getting richer even though they have enough to feed an entire country. It's an ego thing.

Just because Skyler would go along with it doesn't mean Walt Jr. would.

The kid is almost 18. You can't just tell him "Hey... we're moving and changing our names and you can never see or talk to your family or friends ever again" and have him just roll with it.

I think they already addressed it. Walt is a dick. Always has been.

If Walt was such a dick, yes you could tell him that.

Walt already told him something similar when Junior wanted to know why he had to stay at Hank & Marie's.

Going to stay with your Auntie and Uncle (on Bel Air) is a FAR FAR FAR FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR cry from telling him
"You can never talk to anybody about your former life, you can never see anybody from your former life, you have a new name. No. I'm not going to tell you why and even though you're on the cusp of adulthood I will expect you to adhere to these rules for the rest of your natural life".

Come on. Stop it.

No. I'm not going to tell you why and even though you're on the cusp of adulthood I will expect you to adhere to these rules for the rest of your natural life, and when you turn 18, I'm giving you $10M."

"OK dad!"

Nope.

No way does Flynn take a payout from his Dad without any kind of explanation.

You mean Walt "chip off the old block to Mr. I-can-fix-anything-with-money" Junior?

Remember how excited Jr. was when he had money coming in on that donation website?
Cha-ching!
Cha-ching!
He couldn't get enough of it!

And he looooves that car.
PT Cruisers?
Not for Walt Jr!

Even his mom showed how much she loved money with her excitement over making $5 on eBay.

$10M or sleepovers with Louis?

It's a no brainer.

Walt would just find a suitable lie like always, witness protection or something. He'd get Flynn on board.

Yup. All he'd need to say is that they need to run from the bad men who killed Uncle Hank.

I think the kids and Marie end up in protection, with Skylar potentially facing charges. With Jesse still out there to implicate her, Walt comes back to save her the trouble by finishing Jesse.

Jesse was originally supposed to die in the first season but the producers liked the chemistry between the two actors so much, they changed their plans. Will be interesting to see what they do now.
