All Things:AMC television

Hey, AMC: Quit screwing around and renew 'Halt and Catch Fire'

The order for season 2 came well after season 1 had ended. What's your sense of your fate this time around, and when do you expect to get an answer? What does AMC want to see or hear for you to get another season? Did you have to pitch them on the season 2 arc as part of earning that renewal?

Christopher C. Rogers: We're cautiously optimistic about a third season and keeping our fingers crossed. We're incredibly proud of the season of TV we put out this year and have frankly been delighted with the almost universally positive critical response. Our fans have been both vocal and loyal and we definitely feel that we have much more to say with these characters should we be given the opportunity. That said, we understand that there are other considerations (ratings not least among them) which AMC has to weigh in making their decision. We fully expect them to gather all of the data out there and take the time they need to reach a conclusion, which is what they've always done historically whether the show is a new one like ours or a returning hit like Breaking Bad.

Except AMC already ordered a second season of the walking dead companion show and it hasn't even aired yet. I do understand the business side of it and some shows despite being good get cut.

Btw really enjoying Humans.

Humans last night....wow!

A lot of answers, and a lot of deep thinking going on there.

Spoiler alerts:

Hobb sure did a complete 360 on his motives. And how did that work out for ya with Fred? (i'm slowly learning all character names)

The back and forth between Niska and Millican on human emotions, Laura recounting her past to the daughter, Leo learning that some humans are actually decent, so many layers going on there.

I really was hoping Max wasn't really gone. I get the sacrifice, but he was probably my favorite synth!

Max was the moral center of the show. His willingness to try religion and doing the 'bargaining' thing we all do, truly marked him as more human than the rest. He cannot be dead. I refuse to accept that.
Still not sure, ultimately, what Hobb's deal is. That was too big of a 360. I guarantee when Niska looked at the old picture of all the scientists, he was in that picture. Hurt has been terrific, especially with his love for Odi. And with every mystery they unravel, they introduce another...like the synth detective.

It is quickly becoming one of my 'top of the pile' shows.

To not renew HaCF for S3 would be a travesty. So many possibilities after last night.

Frank Darabont Files New Lawsuit Against AMC Over "The Walking Dead"

In the amended complaint, it's alleged that Darabont's participation profits were lowered after the original litigation was filed in December 2013, with Darabont's "Developed By Profits" lowered from 10 percent to 7.5 percent, and his "EP/Showrunner Profits" lowered from 2.5 to 1.875 percent. Given the amount of money generated by "The Walking Dead," that could mean additional millions beyond what Darabont and CAA sought in the original complaint.

The new complaint also mentions soon-to-debut spinoff "Fear The Walking Dead," dubbing it a "derivative works of the Series" that Darabont deserves payment and credit for.

Another change in the amended complaint, Deadline notes, is the wording of Darabont's exit from the series -- now acknowledging the network has the "contractual 'pay or play' right to remove Darabont," though still stating that AMC "summarily fired Darabont without cause, without notice, without explanation, and without any opportunity to cure."

Finally caught up on HOW. Love the new Chinese storylines.

Travel Alberta just needs to air screencaps for the awesome mountain shots. :)

The season finale' of HUMANS was very good. Teasing new storylines while rewarding you with closure on some. It's what the show does best...giving you answers while asking more questions. I knew Hobbs was up to no good. I hope that they find some way to provide a human foil for him, William Hurt's character would have been perfect...but that's not going to happen now. This show was a terrific surprise, glad it's coming back.

I thought the Season Finale was underwhelming but I think that is a good thing. Just enough tease with Niska at the end to keep you wondering what next. I think this show is great because it deosnt try to overwhelm you with the sci-fi side and much more about the humanistic side. Looking forward to Season 2.

I think that's a pretty good description of it. Wasn't a massive battle to end the season, but still had closure for the family and the synths (for the most part).

Glad I stuck with it.
