Yeah, but it's only 8 episodes. Not exactly a vote of confidence. Although, I think it's like Ripper Street/Peaky Blinders where it's a joint venture with BBC America and/or Netflix. Who knows. But yeah, it really is an undervalued show.

Darryl is too bland of a character to lead the show. He makes bad decisions and his whole dialog is a series of grunts.

So I finished reading the novel and now finished watching the show.

I thought it was well done, well acted, and the often silent Artic landscape was haunting. If was hard to watch at times since it's basically the story of men suffering in the G-d forsaken Artic, lol, but I we all knew what we were getting into.

The TV series diverges from the novel here and there, but nothing that takes away from the spirit of the story. The novel does go into a lot of more detail and was hard to read at times, ugh, but it was a well written behemoth of a novel. Bummed me out at times though. Sigh. I think I am a masochist. Only happy books from now on. mhihi: ;)
 
I'm done with all TWD now after last night's FearTWD... aka How to Kill a TV show in 8 episodes.

I wanted to read the book, but previous experience with Simmons' work kept telling me it was gonna be a dry read. I did finish the show. And wow...subtle, melancholy, and downright unsettling. Acting was top notch across the board. Jared Harris though, that's an Emmy. Hey Orph, it was kinda like a reverse Moby Dick a little bit...or is that the 'meds' talking?

It's not clear if that is the general theme going forward. May be coincidence. It's an interesting and untapped area they could get into. A week and change later and I am still kinda haunted by the Terror story.
