According to Deadline, Nick Swardson ("Reno 911", Grandma's Boy) and TJ Miller (Cloverfield, Get Him to the Greek ) have been cast in ShadowMachine’s R-rated stop-motion animated Hell & Back, a comedy about two best friends who must rescue their pal when he is accidentally dragged to hell.

Asked about a sequel to The Incredibles, Brad Bird reiterated most of the stuff he’s said over the last few months. But when MTV asked if he has a script, or scenes, or notes, Bird said,

It’s all of the above. I haven’t gotten it all figured out yet. I have a lot of ideas I had originally intended to be in the first movie, but you have to start throwing things out of the balloon to get it up in the air. A lot of the things you throw out are really cool and would be good in a movie, so… some of the things that I would want to do were originally intended for Incredibles, and there wasn’t the space to get them in there.

FOX FORGES NEW UNIT TO CREATE ALTERNATIVE ANIMATED CONTENT

Programming Will Run on New Late-Night Animated Block and Digital Channel

Network Inks Exclusive Deals with Former Adult Swim Development Head Nick Weidenfeld and Producer Hend Baghdady

Building on its more than 20 years of animation domination, Fox Broadcasting Company (“FOX”) has created a new unit to oversee the development and production of alternative animated series, shorts and user-adapted material for a brand new late-night animated programming block and new digital multi-platform network, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, FOX President of Entertainment.

To run this new unit, FOX has inked an exclusive deal with Nick Weidenfeld, former head of program development for Adult Swim and executive producer of acclaimed series “Childrens Hospital” and “The Boondocks.” The network has also tapped producer Hend Baghdady (“Warren The Ape,” “The Andy Milonakis Show”) as the executive in charge of production for the new division.

Under their leadership, the unit will develop and produce an ambitious slate of original animated shorts and series to run both on-air and online. The late-night programming block will air Saturdays (11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET/PT) on FOX and will feature four new animated series per season starting in January 2013.

The digital channel will extend across platforms such as Web, mobile apps, game consoles and Video on Demand. It kicks off in 2012 and will feature 50 original short-form pieces per year, online windows of FOX animated shows, and user-adapted content. It will create a unique opportunity for fans and up-and-coming talent to engage with professional FOX-curated content, which they could possibly platform into their own series. FOX will also use its expertise and cross-promotional power to nurture these new assets through this pipeline.

“This may be the first time a network is building a clear bridge for talent to develop and grow ideas in the digital/alternative arena and organically move them into the mainstream,” said Reilly. “These new late-night series will be assets in their own right – but the clear possibility exists for a breakout digital success to graduate to primetime.”

“Nick had an incredible track record at Adult Swim and is a dynamic guy with the instincts to cultivate and produce inventive and irreverent series that animation fans love. Together with Hend, they are the perfect partners for us in this exciting new venture,” Reilly continued.

Prior to teaming with FOX under his Friends Night production company banner, Weidenfeld served as the head of Program Development for Adult Swim. Over the last eight years, Weidenfeld helped grow the late-night block of programming on Cartoon Network – featuring breakout hits such as “Robot Chicken” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” – into the No. 1 cable entertainment channel among young men. He executive-produced a variety of animated and live-action shows, including the Peabody Award-winning “The Boondocks,” “Childrens Hospital,” “NTSF:SD:SUV::,” “Metalocalypse,” “Superjail!” and “China, IL,” to name a few. In 2009, Weidenfeld co-created and co-wrote the animated hour-long cartoon, “Freaknik: The Musical,” starring Grammy Award-winning singer T-Pain as well as Cee Lo, Lil Wayne, Andy Samberg, and Bill Hader. The musical is currently being adapted for the stage. Most recently, he adapted the feature film “Black Dynamite” into an animated series and built a sketch show around the rap group and Internet sensation, Odd Future.

Hend Baghdady began her career in New York working on the first season of “Crank Yankers” with Jackhole Industries. Since then, she has developed, produced and created production formats and templates for live-action and animated comedy series for MTV, Comedy Central, and Adult Swim. Her most recent credits include the “Community” stop-motion Christmas special “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas”; the first strip animated show “DJ & The Fro”; “The Andy Milonakis Show”; “Warren The Ape”; and Kanye West’s pilot “Alligator Boots.”

Considering that some of the Fox shows are shown on Adult Swim a few weeks after their original air date there is already a relationship between the two. This could be really good for fans of 'adult' animation.
 
Tom Hanks to Create and Star in Animated Sci-Fi Series ELECTRIC CITY

In Yahoo’s first ever scripted show, Tom Hanks will not only play the creative force behind-the-scenes but will also lend his voice to the lead character. Electric City, an animated sci-fi series, is a production of Reliance Entertainment and Playtone, a TV and film company owned by Hanks and Gary Goetzman. About twenty episodes, each around four minutes long, should begin streaming this spring exclusively on Yahoo. While already a popular news outlet, Yahoo is looking to build franchises and hopes to start with Electric City. If successful, the property could find other avenues of media, such as games, home video, TV and perhaps even a feature release. The first look at Electric City will be at this week’s CES in Las Vegas

BD Horror News - TV: 'Simpson' Show Runner Reveals October's Treehouse of Horror Episode!

"The Simpsons" Treehouse of Horror Halloween episode has been a tradition for 21 years, of the 22 that "The Simpsons" has been on. They've skewered classic and popular horror movies like The Shining ("The Shinning") and Cape Fear, and stories like "The Monkey's Paw".

Show runner Al Jean told me what all three segments of this year's Halloween episode would be when I saw him at the Television Critics Association party for Fox. Talk about looking ahead... Spoilers follow!

"It deals with in no particular order, The Mayan calendar's prophecy of the end of the world, black holes, Paranormal Activity and what would've happened if Homer and Marge hadn't gotten ready," Jean said.

Just in time for Paranormal Activity 4, "The Simpsons" will have their spoof of the franchise ready to air. They have to actually teach their animators to draw what looks like "found footage."

"We said, 'You have to make everything look from the point of view.' They cheated it themselves. Originally it was just the handheld camera but then they mounted cameras and had different cameras. But it's all from the point of view of a camera filming the event."

Whatever you believe about the Mayan prophecy, it's nice to imagine that it's a little more likely the world will end before "The Simpsons" does. "Oh, I know," Jean said. "The more I research the Mayan calendar, the more I think we don't have anything to worry about. Unless you believe in the 13th Baktun, you're okay."

Now apocalypse and hit ghost movies are obvious Halloween topics. How does an alternate reality fit in with horror spoof? Well, perhaps a la Homer's time traveling toaster where he created frightening futures.

"Bart goes back in time to that episode, 'The Way We Was,' but doesn't know it's an episode. He goes back to that point with Homer and Marge and sabotages it. We have Jon Lovitz reprise his role as Artie Ziff."

I know what you're thinking. This is not like that "Family Guy" episode where they went back into the pilot episode and even reused the old standard def animation. "The Simpsons" has recreated all new high definition animation for their spoof.

"We're not using the original footage. I know "Family Guy" did a 'Back to the Pilot' and it's not that. It's the story of him interrupting their meeting."

"The Simpsons" Halloween episode airs this October or beginning of November, depending when their Sunday night falls.

Sweet Christmas! Luke Cage finally getting some TV-show love | Blastr

Lots of people have tried to lift the once-and-future Power Man from the comic-book pages: Actors like Transformers' Tyrese Gibson and Old Spice's Isaiah Mustafa have campaigned to play the Hero for Hire, while John Singleton was jockeying to direct. Now he's finally going to get to walk and talk.

Thing is, Luke Cage is going to be a recurring character on Disney's new Ultimate Spider-Man. And he's going to be a teenager.

According to Gary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, Spidey will roll into action with Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. team, who will include Power Man, Iron Fist, Nova and White Tiger.

None of the voice actors have been revealed for this new S.H.I.E.L.D. team, but here's the lineup for the major roles: Drake Bell (Drake & Josh) voices Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies) is Nick Fury, J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man) is J. Jonah Jameson, Stan Lee is Stan the Janitor, Clark Gregg (Thor, The Avengers) is Agent Coulson and Steven Weber (Wings) voices Norman Osborn.

Ultimate Spider-Man is set to premiere on April 1.

Got the DIC Series 2/Season 1 DVD of GI Joe yesterday. Year is 1989. I don't think I've ever seen them, but for around $20, they can't be as bad as the internet says can they?

So I start the first episode and Destro is gold and dumps the Baroness around 1 minute in. For Zarana. WTF? CC is a snake from the movie still.
 
Luck of the Fryish and Jurassic get the damned tear ducts flowing...the Comedy Central run has been mixed, but better that than none. I honestly think, given the parallels, Fox messed up more on Futurama than they did on Family Guy. Glad you agree Doc, I have to say I was worried when I saw you posted.

Love that show. Love those episodes. I also like the episode where Bender is God... sort of.
