Sunday TV Ratings: FAMILY GUY Steady in Big Character Death Episode; BOB

Not sure what the point of that was on Family Guy last night. It was horrible and very very sad. NOT what I watch this show for. Maybe McFarlane is tired of the workload(he voices Stewie/Peter and a host of others), and they have occasionally made references to Brian being a dog and the length of a dog's life, but surely there was a better way. Been watching Family Guy forever and this just was a bummer. Like Paulie Walnuts as the new dog, but how long can they maintain that? Dunno, like South Park, maybe it's time to say goodnight already.

That was lame. If they wanted a real tribute to Brian, they should've ended the episode right after he passed and/or at the funeral.

The new dog is just weird.

I agree, unnecessary.

No Robin Hood = bull****

In all fairness, Robin Hood is loved by those who grew up with it, but generally is not considered a classic by any stretch of the imagination. I am with you. It hit at the prime age of my life and stuck there, but from what I have read it generally is considered a failure and came at a point when Disney's quality was not it's highest. Sword in the Stone/Black Cauldron/Pete's Dragon are others that were in that period. But they do have Fox & the Hound on there and that wasn't considered 'best' by a lot of folks either(sure does get me bawling though).

THE BOXTROLLS Trailer. THE BOXTROLLS Features the Voices of Simon Pegg and Tracy Morgan | Collider

Focus Features has released a new trailer for the upcoming stop-motion animated film The Boxtrolls. The story tells the tale of the titular trolls who live underneath the streets of Cheesebridge. Legend has it that the Boxtrolls steal the townspeople?s children and cheese, but the truth of the matter is that the monsters are raising an orphaned human boy named Eggs as one of their own. This trailer actually begins by showing how the folks at Laika Studios (the makers of Coraline and ParaNorman) craft their gorgeous films before giving a look at the characters in motion. Unsurprisingly the whole thing looks great, and I?m remain enthused about the forward-thinking teaser trailer that was released earlier this year.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer. Directed by Anthony Stacchi (Open Season) and Graham Annable, the film features the voices of Ben Kingsley, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Tracy Morgan. The Boxtrolls opens in 2D and 3D on September 26, 2014.

This looks absolutely stunning and I will gladly brave the hordes of sniveling runts to see this in a theater.

I just finished watching the blu-ray discs for an interesting series called Kokoro Connect. The series is based on the light novel series Sadanatsu Anda. The TV series covers the 1st 3 novels while the OVA is just novel#4.
The story involves 5 members of a school club that suddenly find themselves in the middle of experiments by an unknown alien race. The start out having their minds randomly switch bodies (the club has 3 girls and 2 boys). That is followed with them having the control their base emotions removed then random time shifts to when they were children. The Ova deals with having private thought broadcast to random club members.

It is a great story with interesting well developed characters and intertwines sci-fi and pychological stories with some added humor.
Well worth checking out.

Not sure I understand what they were trying to do. Seemed and still does unecessarily cruel and horribly out of tune. End result...I'm glad he's back

Disney Animation Studios Sets MOANA for 2018; Will Use New Style of CGI Similar to PAPERMAN | Collider

Animation takes a long time, and studios look ahead years in advance. Disney Animation Studios, which recently released the amazing Frozen, already has their eye on 2018. According to io9, the studio plans to release Moana (pronounced Mo-AH-na) in five years, and it sounds like it will be another interesting spin on a princess film, although a source tells Bleeding Cool that this story “is fresh and original, not a fairytale movie”. Here’s the logline:

“The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey. The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.”

Hit the jump for more.

As you can probably guess from the title character’s name, John Musker and Ron Clement (Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog) will be taking their story “across a series of islands in the South Pacific”. io9 also reports that the story will be set around 2,000 years ago. Bleeding Cool adds there might also be “a Tiki carving as a character.”

The plot sounds interesting, but what’s even more exciting is how it might be animated. According to Bleeding Cool, the studio is also developing “a new style of CG that’s somewhat like but certainly not identical to the techniques used on Paperman.” It will be interesting to see what this means exactly, but it’s important to remember 2018 is far away. So much can change in that time span, and perhaps by the time Moana is released (assuming it isn’t canceled), it will be completely different than even the vague information we have right now.
