All Things:Animated

Big Hero 6 was pretty cool. Like an animated all-human avengers meets pacific rim. Some of the animated background scenery in the city was quite amazing.

TJ Miller is awesome.

and ps, stay for the scene after the credits!

Review: Studio Ghibli's Rich And Rewarding 'The Tale Of Princess Kaguya'

It's true that the film does lull in the middle, with a slightly repetitive quality that may be a deliberate attempt to show Kaguya's captivity, but that doesn't make it less watchable. It's a film about tone as much as anything, and the gorgeous, pastoral quality of the work here has lingered long past the film's ending. Not being a brand name in the same way, Takahata's film won't reach the same kind of audience as "The Wind Rises," but animation fans, and basically anyone else, will find something rich and rewarding if they do check it out. Tokyo Film Festival Review: Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’

“Big Hero 6” is truly glorious to look at and comprises a mostly beguiling mixture of genres, story strands and cultures, though it remains a mixture rather than a wholly seamless synthesis. Otherwise, whatever flaws it has are ones of over-enthusiasm and over-ambition and are therefore easy to forgive, especially because when it works, it really works [read: there were tears]. It’s a film that clearly has had lots of care lavished on almost every aspect of its conception and execution, and to echo a weighted phrase frequently returned to, to various levels of heart-tugging effect: with “Big Hero 6” I am satisfied with my care. You, and any bright-eyed moppets of your acquaintance, probably will be too. [B/B+]

Saw this last night and thought it was a lot of fun.

Really? For an animated movie aimed at kids?

I'm not saying it was Seven Samurai. Or even Toy Story.

Yea.

Visually it was great... but you know what? It's 2014. Almost EVERYTHING is great visually so that's a pretty weak hook to hang your aht on.

San Fransokyo? Be more trite movie. I DARE YOU.
Triple orphaning of a main character? Needless excess.
Nothing any of the characters does makes much sense except to serve each paint by number scene into the next.

Dull. Predictable. Pointless. Cruel.

For kids? Awesome.

This movie is the Third Jersey of cinema. Inspired by and created merely to move product off of retail shelves to an increasingly non-discerning audience of proto geeks who can't wait to be excited about the next "ZOMG SO EPIC" thing to come along.

**** THIS MOVIE.
