Hank Azaria Breaks His Silence On The Future Of Apu On ‘The Simpsons’
http://uproxx.com/tv/hank-azaria-the-problem-with-apu-the-simpsons/

Look, I am not Indian. But, for what it's worth, I never saw Apu as anything other than an endearing character on a show that we all grew up with. I can see how the arranged marriage story and the Vishnu references might rub wrong, but I never saw him as a stereotype. I mean, no more than Homer who, in real life would be a horrible husband and father. Alcoholic, lazy, chokes his son, borderline simple...

in other words, it's just a cartoon. I may be wrong here...but Apu has been a major character on a beloved show for a very very long time. You argue for inclusion, and then attack a very lovable and sympathetic character. I don't know that that is fair. But, I am not Indian...so I defer to those that are. I just hope that this isn't a grasp at relevance by Mr. Kondabolu.
