MY LIFE DIRECTED Trailer Reveals Nicolas Winding Refn’s Turmoil While Making ONLY GOD FORGIVES
http://collider.com/my-life-directed-trailer-nicolas-winding-refn/

RADiUS-TWC has released the first My Life Directed trailer for writer/director Liv Corfixen’s upcoming documentary. The film takes an intimate look at filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn’s process while making Only God Forgives, as he struggles to capitalize on the success of Drive and shoot the film in Bangkok. The fact that Corfixen is Refn’s wife means we get revealing access to the filmmaker, and indeed the doc doesn’t shy away from Refn’s frustration during the production.

Here’s the official synopsis for My Life Directed:

In MY LIFE DIRECTED BY NICOLAS WINDING REFN, Refn’s own deep conflict is swinging in the breeze as we witness him wrestle with the particularly challenging production of ONLY GOD FORGIVES. Directed and shot by his wife Liv Corfixen over the duration of the production and subsequent Cannes debut, MY LIFE DIRECTED BY NICOLAS WINDING REFN captures the very private and intimate moments to which a traditional documentary crew simply wouldn’t have access. The result is a fascinating, detailed look at a creative genius at work and also a portrait of a director torn between the general public’s desire for a “DRIVE 2″ and his own mission to explore more challenging narrative territory.

Wow. This guy is a Danish Ti West. Sorry Adgy, this guy is Douche Bagalow.

Breakfasts come and go, Renee, but Hartford? The Whale? They only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

Michael Jai White, known for his titular role in Black Dynamite, was supposed to make an in-character appearance in Kill Bill: Vol 2. An entire fight scene was filmed, but was inevitably cut from the final film.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Why is this the first I'm ever hearing about it and when the **** is someone going to leak it????

Nice read, was not aware of many of those.

Jonathan Nolan Reveals the Original Ending to INTERSTELLAR

I don't want to step on any toes(yesIdoYesIdo) but, can we call this what it was...a bomb. Considering the hype, the cost and the unadulterated worship of your false idol...this movie underperformed tremendously. And, more importantly, the conversation pretty much petered out after the first weekend.

I guess that depends on your definition of bomb (can a movie that makes a profit be considered that, even if it was small?). The movie did way better overseas than it did out here.

It is pretty interesting to me that it under-performed like it did. Was it just the lukewarm reviews, or something else?

A movie that wasn't a remake, a sequel or a superhero movie failed to get huge numbers. I'm shocked. Come on JD, you're better than that. You know that box office results are hardly a measure of quality. Really, that it did as well as it did is more surprising to me because a three hour long space travel movie has very little mainstream appeal. International numbers look great.

Now I have watched it again recently and it really helped me solidify my opinion of it since the first viewing is such a trip. There are some things I don't like and there are some things I really like. I might have to step down a bit from my initial impression, which was expected, but I still love just about every scene that takes place outside of Earth.

Obviously you haven't been following my anti Nolan manifestos around here Brownie. And yeah...when a movie as high profile as Interstellar was barely wins it's opening(soft) weekend and then follows up by petering out with a resounding lack of buzz...especially given all the IMAX screenings and early showings and the best you can say is 'well...it did better internationally' guess what...that's a fail. I like that Nolan's brother, whose hands he pretty much ripped the project out of, is going around saying...'this is what I wanted to do'. Come on...lets call a turd a turd. This was given top $$$$$$ and arguably the hottest star at the time, and still...what, 3 months later, it's an afterthought. INCEPTION was the same set of circumstances. And that movie, flawed as it was, made money. I love that you guys are still defending Nolan, but it's time to fess up. I think even Nasti Marvasti would probably say the same thing you said about how he originally thought it was a better picture than it was. And don't give me that hooey about non sequel, original sci fi, non superhero movie...because GRAVITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey if you want to claim some sort of victory for a Nolan movie not doing well by Nolan standards then go ahead but you're knocking us for "defending Nolan" when you base your argument around box office success. All I'm saying is who cares, if box office was an indicator then Transformers 4 is movie of the year.

Boo hoo, Nolan's worst movie was a flawed but still highly watchable entertainment that was not a $300 million blockbuster. I guess he will only have Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Inception, and the best series of superhero movies by a mile to fall back on.

Jupiter Ascending, that was a bomb.

you guys just CAN'T admit he made a bad movie...amazing. And no...box office is not the be all end all and shouldn't be used to judge the quality of a movie...but in this case it's relevant simply due to the ridiculous amount of money it cost to make that movie.
